Words of Inspiration

“I believe that education is all about being excited about something. Seeing passion and enthusiasm helps push an educational message.“
-Steve Irwin

A Special Applause to...

I hope to see you tomorrow at the Band, Orchestra, and Art (Show) Pancake Day! These performance based classes enrich the experience for students at the Greene School. This is their chance to shine! Thank you to Tim, Abby, Gayle, Angela, Katy, and Amy for preparing students for this great event!

PD on the Fly...

During this time of year I feel like I am being pulled in a thousand directions. So much to do, both in and out of school, and so little time to do it. I know many of you feel this way too. How can we take something off the plate? This author asks (in the title), "Ask Yourself, Why Am I Grading This?" She describes her grading practice as a new teacher, "I gave points for completing annotations, bringing books to class, and completing homework. By the end of the semester, I had over a hundred assignments in my grade book. I was exhausted by the neverending pile of paperwork that cast a shadow on my life beyond school." I hope this makes you think. Enjoy!

Info for the Staff

Staffing Update

This time of year is difficult. On one hand, we are sad to see people leave the Greene School. On the other, when you hear about their next opportunity, you are happy for them. Chris Rains is in that situation. He will be leaving the Greene School at the end of this year. Chris is moving to Nashville with his girlfriend. He has accepted a position at Belmont University to help facilitate technology into their educational programs. Best of luck, Chris. You will be missed!

We have also filled another position. With one Mulvaney leaving us for retirement, what better time to welcome another one! Christine Mulvaney will be joining the Greene School to teacher 5th grade math next year.

Gifted Meeting

The consultant who will assist with gifted training will be meeting with math and ELA teachers next Thursday, March 7 at 7:20 in the MPR. Who should attend: teachers who will be teaching math or ELA at the Greene School next year who are not gifted credentialed. HERE is a document that we have been working on to help you create a training plan.

Scheduling Meeting Rooms

We have had some conflicts with meetings running over in Room 70, the Office Conference Room, and the MPR. Please be aware if someone is scheduled to be in a room after you. It is recommended that you talk to the participants of the meeting before you begin to set a time limit on the meeting.

Upcoming dates for your calendar:

Pancake Day - This Saturday, March 2nd at the High School - 8:00 am - 3:30 pm. Come for the music, come for the art, come for the pancakes!!!!

Staff Soup Cook-off! This Monday, March 4th - Bring your soup and any utensils to the Staff Lounge first thing Monday morning! If you haven't yet signed up for soup (or other items) please do so - the list is on the office bulletin board. (We could really use some more soup-makers! We know you are out there!!!!) SO rev up those soup pots this weekend and bring them full of warmth and goodness on Monday!
