First Day Arrival
To make arrival on the first day a little less nerve wracking, teachers will be standing outside from 8:05 am to 8:15 am to meet and gather the students.
How will you identify your child’s teacher?
Each teacher will be holding a sign to signify the classroom teacher's name.
Will I get to meet my child’s teacher?
Your child’s teacher is happy to meet you, but please remember that the goal of having the teachers outside on the first day is to make the students feel comfortable. If you have specific questions, please email or call the teacher at another time. The teachers will be busy getting to know your children and making them comfortable!
Pictures 😊
The first day of school is a memory worth keeping. To assist you in creating a beautiful picture, desks will be placed outside on the blacktop that will include a prop that signifies the grade level that the child will be entering.
What if it rains?
Rain would put a damper on our day, but if Mother Nature decides to not cooperate, students will enter through their routine entrance. Information is below. Parents will say their goodbyes and give hugs at the door.

EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Early dismissals for individual students are sometimes necessary for a doctor, dental or daytime appointment. The process used by our office is as follows:
On the morning of the early dismissal, the student should provide a note for the teacher to be shared with the main office.
Parents/guardians must come into the Main Office in person to sign out and accompany their children. Identification and masks will be required for early dismissal. We strongly encourage that if you need to pick up your child(ren) before our regular dismissal time that you do so no later than 2:15 p.m. This allows for a much smoother dismissal and ensures all staff are getting our students safely back to you.
Please be advised, students can only be released to adults whose names appear on the Genesis Contact List. Any adult who is picking up a student MUST present a valid photo ID. Please be sure to update Genesis contacts through the Parent Portal.
Lunch
The Florence Township School District is pleased to announce that all students can receive a free healthy breakfast and lunch each day as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2021-2022 school year.
However, it is critical that all households complete the External LinkFree and Reduced-Price Meal Application. This information determines the amount of money our schools receive from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs like Title I-A, At-Risk (31a), Title II-A, E-Rate, etc. These supplemental programs have the potential to offer supports and services for our students including, but not limited to:
• Instructional supports (staff, supplies, and materials, etc.)
• Non-instructional services (counseling, social work, health services, etc.)
• Professional learning for staff
• Parent and community engagement supplies and activities
• Technology
• Pandemic-EBT
Forms will be located in the Genesis portal. As well, the forms are also located on the district website at the following link: https://www.florence.k12.nj.us/cafeteria
