ALL DMS Library Books are due ASAP. Any student that does not turn in his/her library books and pay any outstanding fines will NOT receive his/her end of the year Report Card and will not be able to pick up next year’s schedule until these fines are cleared. Please have your student(s) check with Mrs. King or Mrs. Harlow in the Library if he/she has any questions.

Medications Must Be Picked Up By May 21
*ALL medications in the nurse office must be picked up by a parent no later than 1100 on the last day of school, Thursday, May 21st.
**Medications not picked up at this time will be disposed of according to policy. Exception: students with physician orders to carry emergency medications, inhalers, Benadryl, epipens & diabetic medications/supplies will be sent home with that student.

WAY TO GO PANTHERS
DMS Students Win At Regional Junior Solar Sprint Competition
Junior Solar Sprint, an Army Educational Outreach Program, provides a hands-on opportunity for students in grades 5-8 to apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts, creativity, teamwork, and problem solving skills as they design, construct and race a solar-powered car.
ARMDEC provided the solar panel and the motor for the cars this year. Students had to research, design, make drawings, and build a model from their designs.
SciQuest hosted this regional tournament for the area. Out of all the teams competing, Jared Harris (DMS) came in 1st place and Angela Kinsey (DMS) came in 3rd place.
Jarod will advance to the National Competition in Dallas TX.

· July 27 – New Student Orientation – For students who have enrolled in MCS in the summer. 6pm in the DMS Library
· Aug. 2 – Open House (All Students) 2pm until 4pm- Assembly in Gym at 2pm
RUFF Youth Summer Leadership
Middle school boys in Madison City should take note of an upcoming Youth Leadership Conference.
Madison Mayor Troy Trulock is teaming up with the R.U.F.F. young male mentoring group in Madison City Schools for the 1st annual Be “Tru” and “Locked” Ready yoUrself For the Future (RUFF) Youth Leadership Conference in Madison, July 13-17. The conference will meet mostly at Discovery Middle School but also at Insanity Skate Park and the Central Office.
The conference is geared for current 6th and 7th grade boys. The $25 registration fee covers a conference T-shirt, lunch each day, transportation from meeting points each day, and activities.
Events range from team building activities, a career fair, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) events, life skills activities and more.
June 1 is the deadline to register. The Madison City Schools website (www.madisoncity.k12.al.us) has the registration link and letter to parents in a post to the Community Bulletin Board tab.

Madison City Chess League Summer Info
Madison City Chess League will continue to meet on Monday nights over the summer. A schedule of spring and summer events can be found on our Facebook and Webpage. Also, MCCL will be conducting a Summer chess champ July 22-24th (Wed-Fri), and a Summer Knights Chess Tournament on Saturday July 25th, so save the date. MCCL members will be guaranteed a spot in the summer camp if registration forms have been received and MCCL members will enjoy other benefits over the summer such as free registration for a Summer Blitz tournament on June 22nd and admission into a Members Only Bughouse Night in July.

BOB JONES HS EVENTS AND NEWS
Monday, May 18 - Early Dismissal AT BJHS Only
BJHS graduation is Monday, May 18th at 3:00 at the VBC. All teachers and staff must be present by 1:00 to prepare. Because of this, BJHS will dismiss at 11:45 on Monday, May 18th. Buses will run as normal.
BJHS Boys Basketball Fundraiser
BJHS Boys Basketball is selling chicken dinner tickets.
The dinner is a chicken leg quarter, baked beans, potato salad, roll and a cookie.
Cost is $10 per ticket
Pickup is at DMS Saturday June 13th between 10:30am-2:00pm
BJHS 2016 Softball Tryouts
