HINGHAM HIGHway :::: HHS Newsletter
September 23, 2022
During a “Spirit Week” that has already lived up to its name, HHS headlines included:
A massive turnout at last night’s Open House;
A strong program delivered by our counselors at Ninth Grade Parents’ Night on Tuesday night;
The girls’ cross-country team taking the lead as the first HHS sports team to embrace the new “Adopt an Island” program that aims to beautify our campus;
The perfect alignment of Spirit Week with Hispanic Heritage Month; and
The presentation of the first “Opry Award” to a well-deserving HHS senior, Ruby Fernandes; like its namesake, our school’s much-loved comfort dog, the new award seeks to recognize a student who improves school climate and helps others to feel comfortable at HHS;
Alongside the “Spirit Week” fun, the regular business of the school continues. And though HHS is off to a strong start, we’re not immune to the staffing shortages that plague schools nationwide. If you can help as a substitute teacher or instructional assistant, please apply to join our team of exceptional educators. No teaching experience or special expertise is required. You just need a desire to make a positive difference in the life of your community.
The next two days will be among the busiest of the whole year at HHS, and you won't want to miss these highlights of Homecoming Weekend:
Not long after the annual whole-school pep rally this afternoon, the volleyball team will take on Whitman-Hanson at 6:30 PM;
The field hockey team plays Hanover at 9 AM on Saturday;
The girls’ soccer team faces in-town rival Notre Dame Academy at 11 AM on Saturday;
The boys’ soccer team squares off against Norwell at 1 PM on Saturday;
The football team plays Weymouth at 3 PM on Saturday, with the dance team performing at halftime.
Homecoming festivities will conclude with the annual Homecoming Dance at 7 PM tomorrow night.
The daily notices and full school calendar can always be viewed on the HHS website. Look for details on the website and in our weekly PTO newsletter.
We hope to see you here at HHS during what promises to be a fun and memorable Homecoming Weekend!
