Knight Notes
February 22, 2016
Happy Monday!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. The weather was fantastic!
There was certainly a lot going on around here this weekend, and our kids performed very well. I know Mr. Janes will have a lot to communicate regarding activities.
NHS Induction, KORT, and countless other events are happening this week. I am excited about an awesome week!

Tools for your Toolbox:
Ranking: Requires students to analyze components of concepts then justify their reasons for assigning rankings. *
Steps:
· Select concepts, events, descriptive paragraphs, or other things that can be analyzed and ranked.
· Ask students to rank items to specified criteria
· Next provide justification for the way they chose to rank.
· Allow students to pair share or network.
Attendance
Knights @ 90- We currently have 89.96% of our students attending 90% of the time. Since we have dropped below our goal, please help reiterate the importance of attendance. As a team let's pay extra attention to showing kids we care when they're not present. Thank you!
Climate
Thank you to all those who participated in the Staff Chats on Thursday last week. We had some great conversations about the discipline procedures here at FHN. We definitely got some great information to consider about our tardy policy and will be discussing that as an admin team.
Climate Committee will meet today at 2:30 in the College and Career room. New members are always encouraged to join. We will be working with the Student Climate Data and recommending next steps to continue improvement.
Technology
Thanks again to Matt Riffee for presenting on Google Apps. Here is the link to the presentation as well as a video of the presentation.

This session will allow teachers - from early learners to high school - to become familiar with Chromebooks, as well as learn ways that these devices can be used in classrooms to generate a student-centered learning environment.
Chromebooks will be provided for participants to use for this session. Please visit the FHSD PD Catalog for more information by clicking here, or contact April Burton with questions.
