Monday Morning Memo
St. Mary of the Assumption School
October 7, 2019
Note from the Principal
This week is Book Fair Week! You may remember from your own school days that this is an incredibly exciting week for the students. Every book you buy helps out the school. Each teacher has also created a book fair wish list, and would greatly appreciate the gift of a book for their class libraries.
This week is the HSA meeting on Wednesday at 7pm. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend. This school community is great because of the collaboration between parents, students, and teachers. Attending HSA meetings is a wonderful way to get involved. There are several upcoming fundraisers and volunteer opportunities coming up. Please see the flyers below for more information.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
Saints at Work
The first annual Mission Day was held at the John Paul II Shrine in Washington DC on October 1st. Select 7th & 8th grade students from schools across the Archdiocese participated. The event included workshops, missionary speakers, and ended with Mas celebrated by the Most Reverend Wilton D. Gregory, Archbishop of Washington. During the Mass, the children were consecrated to Mary. Mary was our first missionary to bring Christ to the world and we want our children to imitate her. The hope is that students will be Missionary Ambassadors returning to their schools and inspire their peers to be Missionaries from what they have learned.
