Prom - Ms Garrison
Prom Senior Favors - Mrs. Shain and the EES Kindergarteners helped us communicate a hopeful message to the graduates during this difficult year: Life Goes On. The Kindergarteners decorated picture frames with their fingerprints and styled the Senior names. A label designated which Kindergartener made the frame and the quote at Prom read: "Our fingerprints touch many lives. None of us can predict what the future may bring. But here is the sticking point: Many will come after you and life goes on."
Congratulations to our Prom Royalty: King Will Schreiner and Queen Alexandria Pascua.

Physics Class Ukulele Project - Mr Pickett
Students in Physics classes recently completed a ukulele construction project in class as they learned about the physics of music and sound.
In the process of creating the instrument students learned about the work of luthiers, artists who create handmade stringed instruments. They also used math to understand how the instrument works by calculating the correct fret locations and scale length to create correct intonation on the instrument. They also calculated the tension created by each string and the total string tension acting on the instrument.. They used an online oscilloscope to study the waveforms and frequencies that create the musical scales that we hear and recognize as music. Finally, students had to learn how to play an eight note scale and play four chord positions on the instrument that they constructed.
Varsity Girls Soccer - Coach Erpelding
@Atchison
This was the first time we played on grass in a month and it looked like it. We played slow and fairly uninspired soccer. It was a disappointing display because this was a team we dominated on the field but not on the scoreboard and was closer on the scoreboard than it should have been. We won 2-1 which is great, but I just did not like the way we played. We took 30+ shots in the game to their five. Senior Alex Pasqua got the first goal when freshman Jayla Erpelding attacked the endline and then found Alex wide open in the middle of the box and Alex did the rest. Senior Kate Erpelding got the second when senior Harleigh Moore threw in the ball to her and Kate looked up and saw the keeper off of her line. Kate shot floated over the keepers head from about 30 out. We created chance after chance but could not finish. They got one back with about 23 minutes left. I subbed off all the starters except junior Mallory Vickers, freshman Lauren Grauberger and senior Leah Williams with about 18 left. The girls that came on did a nice job and created a few chances, but we still couldn't find the net. They saw the game out and we won 2-1. I am hoping our post game talk will light a fire because the last three games we have played down to our competition.
Piper
Last Thursday we lost 0-6 to a very good and very talented Piper team. We did not play bad really at all. We actually played pretty decant. The problem was we worked on and talked about how we wanted to defend them and attack them. We had film and scouting reports from other coaches. Well they completely changed what girls played where and how they would play. What we had planned defensively would have been perfect had they not changed. What we had game planned actually fit right into what they wanted to do. Right there I knew we were in trouble. Attacking wise what we talked about what was available we just couldn't string together enough passes to make it work and when we did we didn't finish or get a shot off. I was actually more happy with our effort and play last night than I was with the last three games excluding the second half and overtime of Tongie. We finished our season with a school record of 9-6-1 which assured us of our first winning percentage of over .500. The team will host Atchison tonight, 6:00pm, in the first round of Regionals.
JV Soccer - Coach Weirick
JV vs. Piper
The squad played an excellent game against a good Piper team. The squad continually surprises me with how well they work together and I think our team has grown tremendously this season and I am very proud to be their coach. We came out with a tie but we really stood our ground defensively. Many girls stepped up, freshen Natalyn Tuckness, Josie Brooks, Kyleigh Musick, Caitlin Peterson, Madison Woodruff, Harper Andrews, and junior Madison Grosdidier all played very well defensively. We only let a few scoring opportunities in but Piper came up short.
I would also love to give a shout-out to sophomore Lexi Frost for working her best and taking that shot at the end of the game. Our wings also had a great game, sophomore Mia Schuck, frehsmen Addison Metcalf, and Kortlyn Shockley. These girls all fought hard on the wings.
The squad had an outstanding season and I am already getting sentimental thinking about how last night was their last game. I have really enjoyed being their coach this season!
This season was an absolute blast. I had so much fun coaching our JV squad this year. Each and every player has improved so much this season. Also, this was the most winning JV season we have ever had, which is saying a whole bunch. Each member contributed something unique to our team, and it wasn't always soccer-related. Freshman Lainey Orr was a great keeper and she improved quickly throughout the season. She made it every game and that took commitment considering she had to drive to various games from track meets. Caitlin Peterson developed into one heck of a defender and came to our squad with very little soccer experience. It was fun to see Madison Woodruff keep her composure many times as she played centerback. Kyleigh Musick worked well as our voice of the backline. Encouraging players to do their best every game. Harper Andrews always had to defend the wings of the opposing team and they always seemed to be the fastest girls on the field. But Harper paid no mind and always put her best foot forward. Josie Brooks played in many different positions including midfield and defender. However, it was nice to find her niche at the end of the season, which was outside back. Madison Grosdidier was definitely our utility player and played literally every position on the field. I appreciate her flexibility. Mia Schuck worked on her skills on the wing and has improved so much with her first touch! Freshman Xin Clobes and junior Riley Steinman frequently played in the attacking mid position where both girls did an excellent job of possessing the ball and passing it to our wings and forwards. Both forces to be reckoned with in the middle. Addison Metcalf played wing almost every game, all game. Somehow, she never got tired. She worked hard and I was impressed by her positive attitude and willingness to improve. Natalyn Tuckness played our holding midfield position for the majority of the year. She worked hard to improve on her field positioning and she has gotten so much better. I loved Natalyn's positivity. Sophomore Max Mize adapted to playing the center forward position. They improved so much and worked hard at learning how to shoot the ball. Freshman Kortlyn Shockley also played up top for us and continuously chased balls down and pressured the centerbacks of the opposing squad. Lexi Frost quickly became a great attacking midfielder. She also worked well as a wing. I love her versatility as a player. Liz Mueting also played all over the field. Proud of her for playing center forward in the game against Tonganoxie. She quickly adapted and was able to score us a goal.
Varsity Softball - Coach Finucane
Tuesday, May 11th vs. Piper
Game 1: The Cardinals weathered a scare by Piper in the sixth inning of their first game on Tuesday evening May 11th, giving up three runs to make the game exciting. Eudora added one run in their half of the 6th, to help squeak out the win 5-4. After giving up the three runs in the top of the 6th inning, Eudora added one run to their total with a walk to freshman Parker Long. Junior Harper Schreiner then hit a triple to knock Parker in to give Eudora a 5-3 lead. Piper came back in the top of the 7th to add one run but then junior Kira Baker got the last batter to fly out to sophomore Addison Woods in center field to secure the victory.
Despite being out hit 10-4, Eudora was able to score by taking advantage of some patient at-bats, timely hits, and smart base running in the 4th inning putting up four runs on the scoreboard to create a little breathing room in the game. The bases were full of Piper base runners all night, but with some crafty pitching, Kira Baker Eudora escaped giving up too many runs. Baker
Game 2:
Eudora varsity jumped out to an early lead in game two and took home a 13-6 victory in the second game on Tuesday. Piper scored two runs in the first inning to take a 0-2 lead, but Eudora came back in their half of the first with three runs on a double by Jayla Pierce, a double by freshman Lilly Rife to take a 3-2 lead. Eudora added two more in the 2nd inning with a two-run home run by Harper Schreiner, driving in sophomore Sawyer Schreiner. Eudora added an additional run in both the 3rd and 4th innings to stretch the lead to 7-2 after 4 innings.
In the 6th inning Eudora added six runs beginning with a double by Elli Han, single by Jayla Pierce, Lilly Rife was hit by a pitch, (senior Kourtney Balluch comes in to run for Rife). Freshman Kenzie Yoder walks to load the bases. Kira Baker scored on a wild pitch, and on the same play Balluch scores from second base on an error by the third baseman. Sawyer Schreiner singles to drive in Yoder, Harper Schreiner singles, then freshman Rylee Griffin doubles to drive in both Schreiner’s.
Piper managed two runs in the 5th and two in the seventh, to make the final score 13-6. Rylee Griffin pitched all seven innings for Eudora, striking out 3 and walking none. Eudora had 13 hits with Harper Schreiner, Sawyer Schreiner, Kira Baker, Jayla Pierce and Rylee Griffin each having multiple hits in the game. The Cardinals played flawless defense with zero errors in the game.
JV Softball - Coach Hodges
The Eudora JV softball team played a doubleheader with Piper on Tuesday, May 11th. Piper had both victories that evening with the score 2-21 and 11 - 19.
Highlights from the Cardinals Ladies:
Sophomore Bree Gabel was the outstanding hitter for both games going 5 - 5 - 1 triple, 1 double, and 3 singles
Junior Kallie Harper went 3 - 5 with 3 singles
Freshmen Sarah Watts and Lilly Cooper hit a doubles
Freshman Blythe Fewins, Sophomore Eliza Fewins, and Junior Rylee Calhoon hit singles
Junior Sego Guillemont had 2 outstanding catches in the outfield for 2 outs
Pitching:
Sophomore Eliza Fewins started the first game and Bree Gabel with the finish
Sophomore Eliza Fewins in the circle for a complete 7 innings
The Cards finish the season with a 5 - 18 record.
Varsity Baseball - Coach Kilmer
Tuesday, May 18 vs Piper
Game 1
Senior Sebastian Lewis took the mound vs Piper. Sebastian kept them throttled for 6.2 innings but eventually ran out of pitches. In stepped senior Keaton Herron to get the last out to save the win versus the Pirates. Piper scored single runs in the first two innings but could muster nothing else. Along the way, Sebastian struck out 9 Pirates.
Lewis also led the hitting attack as he collected a hit and two RBI. He was joined by junior Trenton Long, seniors Dylan Meier, Will Schreiner, and junior Taggert Courter added a hit. The 5th inning was the pivotal inning for the Cards. Will Schreiner singled, his courtesy runner, senior Nathan Criqui, advanced to second when Dylan Meier drew a walk. Junior Bryce Clark reached on an error to load the bases. Keaton Herron was hit by a pitch to drive in the first run. Sebastian then singled up the middle to drive in two more runs. Then Trenton Long hit a ground ball to drive in the fourth run of the inning. The Cardinals first run had scored in the 3rd inning when Meier and Courter singled then Meier scored on Bryce Clark's sacrifice fly.
Game 2
The offense started early jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. Bryce Clark got the inning started with a single to left. Bryce then stole second and moved to third on senior Gavin Hobson’s single. Sebastian Lewis then doubled to right to score Clark and move Gavin to third with one out. Senior Zeke Reazin singled in Gavin to end the scoring in the 1st.
Our starting pitcher was junior Jaykob Lemonds who held the Pirates in check until the 5th and 6th innings when he gave up single runs in both innings. The top of the 7th started poorly for the Cards as an error allowed the first hitter of the inning to reach base. After a steal of second and a sacrifice bunt to move him to third, Piper had the go-ahead run on third base with only one out. Jaykob got an infield pop out for out number 2 and struck out the last hitter to end the threat.
Bryce Clark started off the 7th as he did in the 1st , this time with a walk. After a few pitches, he advanced to second on a wild pitch. Gavin Hobson battled and with 2 strikes he hit a grounder to the second baseman to advance Bryce to third as the winning run with only one out. Up stepped the guy who had saved game 1 with a chance to win game 2. Keaton Herron watched the first pitch go by for strike one. The next pitch he rifled into rightfield chasing Bryce home with the game-winner.
The sweep of Piper sends the Cardinals into Regionals with some momentum. The Cardinals are scheduled to play their first Regional game vs Atchison at Benedictine College around 2:30 on Tuesday, May 18th. A victory against Atchison would have the Cards face the winner of Independence vs Tonganoxie for the right to go to the state tournament in Salina.

Skills USA - Mr Lickteig
The Eudora SkillsUSA chapter recently received a few State awards. The chapter received
awards for the Largest Chapter in the 3-4A Schools category and a Silver award for membership
increase. The Eudora chapter actually has the largest membership of all High Schools in Kansas. In addition, the chapter department advisors: Culinary – Chef Low, Health Careers – Mrs. Young, Welding & Auto Collision – Mr. Paxton and Drafting – Mr. Lickteig all received awards as Advisors of The Year. SkillsUSA recognized many advisors across the state for their dedication and efforts to keep education moving forward in this year of COVID-19. This is really exciting for the Eudora SkillsUSA chapter and hopefully we will be able to build upon this through student competition within the skill areas in the 2021-2022 school year. State Gold medal winners earn the right to compete at the National SkillsUSA Championships to be
held in Atlanta, GA in 2022.
If you might be interested in SkillsUSA or it’s competitions available for next year, see Mr. Lickteig.
