Many Hands, One Mason!!
October 20, 2019
Dear Mason Families,
I can't thank each of you enough for all the support you have given our school through our Fun Run efforts this year! The smiles that were on the faces of our learners when I got dunked this week were priceless. We have raised over 20,000 dollars this year to go towards enhancing the educational environment here at Mason! Well Done, Mason!
Open House was so much fun today!! Our 5th graders stole the show as they lead all the prospective families through the school and shared with them what they like most about Mason. It is always wonderful to see our students being put in positions that allow them to take ownership of their school environment! Well Done, 5th graders! Special shoutout to all the staff members who were present today as well. We couldn't run our Open House without you!
Thanks for your support,
Roy Bishop, Jr.
Principal

What does it mean to be kind?
What do you if one of your friends isn't being kind?
Reading Homework: As a family, it is so important that we are reading every night! If you need books to read to your learner or they need a new book to read at home to read to themselves, we have a free library that you can grab a book from by the main entrance!
Reading Strategies to use with your child at home...
· Eagle Eye: look at the picture. Use the beginning letter.
· Lips The Fish: Get your mouth ready. Say the sound.
· Stretchy Snake: Slowly stretch each letter sound together.
· Chunky Monkey: Break the word into chunks you know.
· Tryin’ Lion: Try to reread the sentence. Think about what would make sense.
· Skippy Frog: Skip the tricky word. Read to the end. Go back and try it again.

Colder weather:
As the weather starts to get colder, please remember the students do go outside everyday for recess. Bundle them up accordingly.
Arrivals:
All students should line up on the playground. Please do NOT enter the building to go to their lockers at this time.
Dismissals:
Please meet your students outside for end of day dismissals. It can't be helped, we understand appointments happen during the school day. Please remember to call the attendance line for early dismissals, the attendance line is open 24 hours a day. Teachers are trying to wrap up instruction and get the students ready to leave so, we would appreciate it if all arraignments were handled before 3:15PM. The more notice you give the better. Thank you!

Did you miss an important phone call? Please make sure all your contact information is up to date.
Is your voicemail box full? Did you know your cell has a voicemail trash folder? Both need to be emptied from time to time.
