Welcome back BCE Bears!
We can't wait to see everyone!

Back to School- Coffee with the principal

Welcome back to School from Principal Fippin
Hello BCE Community- Welcome Back!
I hope everyone had a fantastic summer. I know summer feels like it goes by so fast, and I can't believe we are already back to start another exciting year at BCE. While some took vacations that they will remember forever, others stayed home for some staycations, and others worked and went to camps; whatever you did, I hope you could enjoy each other and find time to be with the ones you love. BCE staff is well-rested and ready to welcome everyone back. Our hallways and classrooms have been so quiet we can't wait to hear the sounds of our BCE Bears on August 10th.
The District has been working hard this summer to get us some new solar panel shade structures installed. We will have 1 large one on the lowers playground and 2 smaller ones on the upper. Some construction may still be underway as we start school, so please watch for the fences and signage. We will continue to communicate progress and if any area of the yards will b closed due to ongoing construction.
Please join me and the Parent Club Board for Coffee with the Principal right after drop off on August 10th. We will meet on uppers under the main shade structure near the garden. It is a great time to see friends you haven't seen, and I would love to welcome you back to the school year.
Many of you helped or supported your children with the summer learning books. We will be doing a big surprise on 8/18, so if your child can turn in the completed road map to their teacher by 8/11, we can have a list of who will participate. We appreciate any continued learning your student did over the summer and the support you gave your child to continue growing.
We are lucky to introduce a few new staff members this year. Please help me welcome Kelsey Genasci, to our 3rd grade team. Felicity Rosencranz, to our Special Education Progam as our new SDC teacher. Stew Jenkins to our math intervention team and Jillian McCoy to our IA team. Thank you for giving them all a warm BCE welcome.
We will have a continued focus on attendance this year. I understand that students get sick and need to stay home. We ask that you only keep your child home if they have a fever, continued cough, or doctor's note. Please ensure you communicate with the office by calling the attendance line at 831-338-2887 when your student is home. If we don't have them with us in class, we can not continue to grow their little minds.
Please make sure you read the entire newsletter. Many important details are below, including class lists, Bear Wear, TK/K meet and greet. It will be a fantastic year, and I am so excited to continue to be part of this community again.
I will continue to send out my Bear Mail every two weeks. The office has an open-door policy, so if you have any questions or if we can be of any support, please reach out. I can be reached best by email at gfippin@slvusd.org

Supplies-
your student with a backpack (if you don't have one or need support, please see the front office or your teacher. We will be happy to help), daily snacks, lunch (unless you order a “hot lunch”), and a water bottle. Teachers will take a daily lunch count for "hot lunch" and "home lunch." ALL STUDENTS need to bring a snack daily. The office and staff will not be able to provide snacks on a daily basis, and our students play hard all day long.
Hot Lunch and Bus Passes
If your child will be riding the bus this year and will need a bus pass, please make sure you purchase your bus pass online here.
We would love to know who is riding the bus this year and what route they will be taking. Please complete this google form to help us know who will be riding. Please complete it for each student. We will use these lists to help with communication. If a bus is running late, we will send out an email to all families.
