Matthew 8:23-26
Letter from Pastor Melissa
Friends
What a wonderful week it has been at our church. We began last Sunday with celebrating the graduation of AnnaBeth Frizzell. That afternoon we drove past her house and presented her with gifts and cards. Then on Wednesday evening, we celebrated the graduation of Caleb Taylor with a drive by celebration as well. What a wonderful show of support for our seniors as they end one journey and begin another.
Also, on Wednesday, the youth and their families gathered for a social distanced picnic in the parking lot. 8 families joined us for dinner and fellowship from 6 feet away. We all remarked how much our souls enjoyed seeing one another. We missed the hugging but it was all worth while just to see each other’s faces and enjoy each other’s company.
Thursday brought about the successful closing on the sale of the parsonage to Pete and Judy Corwin. All went smoothly and now they begin the adventure of updating the parsonage and making it their home. We are thankful for their generous offer to buy the house and we cannot wait to have them much closer to their church family.
Next week brings blessings of their own. I ask you to prayerfully consider serving at a very important mission. The Kids Eat Free program is coming back to Button and we will be feeding the children of Little Elm throughout the summer, three times each week. (Normally M, W and F, but this week is T, W and F due to the holiday!) It is a low contact mission but one that is vitally important to the kids this summer that may be at risk of having enough food each day.
Don’t forget our mission on Sunday, and bring by some canned goods for the food pantry and/or new and gently used children’s books for Kids Eat Free. Time is 1-2pm and you don’t even have to get out of your car! Feel free to drive by and just say hi if you want to! I miss seeing you all!
Button may not be meeting in person, but we are busy doing God’s work! Be a part of it!
God Bless you!

MISSIONS ON THE MOVE
After much success on our first Mission on the Go Sunday in April, we are going to do it again. This coming Sunday, May 24th, from 1-2 pm join us for a double mission. Bring food items and gently used or new books for children to the church. Have your items in the trunk and they will be unloaded for you. Hey all you Youth !
Following Jesus in a Selfie-Centered World
We all love the benefits of technology, but even with the upsides, many of us suspect there are negative consequences beyond our control. The more we interact online, the more we crave face to face intimacy. The more we compare ourselves with others, the less satisfied we are. The more filtered our lives become, the more challenging it is to be authentic. Join Pastor Melissa as we explore the Book "#struggles - Following Jesus in a Selfie-Centered World" by Craig Groeschel. This is a 5 session class that will meet via zoom twice on Tuesdays, 9:00 - 10:00 am and 7:00 - 8:00 pm. We will meet on May 5-June 2. Anyone is welcome to join! You can purchase the book if you desire, but it is not required. Come as you Are!
