Distribution Patterns of Plants

from around the world

Clumped Pattern

These trees are clumped around a source of water, which is a vital nutrient for plants to survive. A flood of the river would be a density independent limiting factor and would most likely wipe out a lot of the tree population.

These plants are found in an unpredictable pattern, therefore it is known as a random distribution. If a disease (density dependent) were to infect these trees, many would die.

These desert bushes are found in a very uniform distribution pattern, this allows them to get the proper amount of resources they need. If too many of these bushes were to grow too close to one another (density dependent), there would be a lot of competition for nutrients.
