Adams Elementary
February 2020
From The Principal
If you have not already learned, FTCSC is reconfiguring schools beginning in the 2020-2021 school year. This is in response to the rapid unprecedented growth that Franklin Township has experienced over the past couple of years. Many months of study and planning have gone into this change which will allow us to most efficiently use our buildings and provide the best learning environments for our students. The realignment will mean that all 6 elementary schools will house students in grades K – 3; Kitley Intermediate and Edgewood Intermediate will house grades 4 – 6; Franklin Central Junior High will house grades 7 – 8; FCHS remains unchanged. Students within the Adams’ boundaries who will be in grades 4, 5, and 6 for the 2020-2021 school year will attend Kitley Intermediate. There is a thorough realignment webpage that gives many details about the plan and has FAQs as well as boundary maps for each individual school. There is also an opportunity to contact the administration with any questions you may have.
Check out our Facebook page for the many activities at Adams in February, but here are a few of the highlights: Feb. 12 - midterm grades are posted in Infinite Campus; Feb. 13 - PTS meeting at 6 PM; Feb. 14 - All Pro Dads; Feb. 17 - No School/Presidents’ Day; Feb. 28 - Magic Show in the evening.
As always, thank you for your support both at home and here at school. The home/student/school triangle is always stronger when all three work together.

Attention Parents of 5th Graders
From the Nurse
Parents of 5th Graders:
Students need additional immunizations when they enter 6th grade. The Indiana State Dept. of Health's additional required shots are Tdap, MCV4, and two doses of Hep A (if not already obtained) for all 6th-grade students. HPV is recommended but not required. The document below explains this in further detail. Please contact your student's doctor as soon as possible to schedule an appointment before school begins in July 2020. Once your student has had these immunizations, please send a copy of the updated shots to the clinic. Even if your student will not be 11 before the beginning of 6th grade, the required shots are due prior to 6th grade. After your student goes to the appointment, please bring a copy of the updated shot record by my clinic so I can add the updated record to your student's medical file which will be forwarded on to the middle school.
MCHD has appointments and walk-in clinic hours, and the cost is $20 regardless of the number of immunizations needed. The closest MCHD office is located at 7551 E Shelby St, and the phone number is 317-221-5700. If you have questions or need a copy of your student's shot record you may call me in the clinic 317-860-4289 to arrange to pick up a copy or have a copy sent home.
