California Gold Rush

The California gold rush was an interesting time. It started about 1848, and ended about 1855. Before the word got out about the California Gold Rush, there were only about 14,000 non- Native Americans that lived in California. After the Rush there were around 90,000 people living in that area.
Digging For Gold
When people were digging, and found gold they became rich for their times. Now in our times rich is millions of dollars, back then it was around $100 then it is now. The usual supplies for digging for gold was a mining pan, shovel, food, and clothes.

The houses they used were old and smaller than most of the houses we have today.
The miners worked hard. They all wanted to find gold and become rich.
