Summer Fine Arts Activities

Denton ISD implemented COVID-19 mitigation protocols with guidance from TEA and UIL for summer activities for our high school marching bands, color guards, drill teams, and theatre programs. This photo gallery displays some of those moments captured from this summer. Special thanks to our teachers and staff that worked so hard to implement these procedures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 so that students could work together again in performing arts. In the video below, Braswell Director of Bands, Aaron Snipes explains how they rose to the challenge to implement the mitigation protocols.
Safety Protocols at Our Secondary Campuses
The Greater Denton Arts Council has been featuring artwork by Denton ISD students and teachers every day on Facebook. You can see those outstanding works of art at www.facebook.com/dentonarts. Many thanks to our amazing art teachers for guiding and developing art-making skills in the students. And many thanks to GDAC for sharing these works with the public and highlighting Denton ISD's art students and art teachers. Below is a sample of the Denton ISD art being shared on the GDAC Facebook page.

Preparing for Fine Arts Online and In-Person

Fine Arts teachers have trained and prepared over the summer to be ready to provide online learning experiences for students that will begin 2020-21 in ConnectedLearning and are working extremely hard with campuses to plan an environment for in-person learners that includes measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Secondary school teachers will be utilizing the Canvas online learning platform to communicate and deliver content to CL students in high school and middle school. Elementary school teachers and CL students will be using the online platform, Seesaw. For information regarding ConnectedLearning please visit the Denton ISD back-to-school website. Denton ISD has been acquiring specialized PPE for Fine Arts and guidance has been communicated to campuses to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 for in-person Fine Arts classes. For parents and students interested in learning more about student and staff safety protocols, please visit the Denton ISD website.
The Texas Music Educators Association Executive Board has announced that to support excellence in student musical development and promote health and safety, all TMEA Band, Choir, and Orchestra auditions through January 10, 2021 (middle and high school) will be conducted via uploaded recordings. All Region 2 TMEA concerts that were originally scheduled for the 2020 fall semester have been cancelled or postponed until the spring semester. Denton ISD's band, choir, and orchestra directors will provide their students and families with the details about how All-Region and All-State auditions will be recorded and submitted. They will have a calendar of submission deadlines and dates for posting of results and advancing rounds.
