Student of the Month - Lee Sanchez
Lee is a modest student. When asked about their accomplishments, Lee offered only that they are trying to be here every day, trying to do their best in classes, and trying to support their friends. Wanting to know more, I asked some of their teachers to comment on Lee’s accomplishments. Mr Wilson, Lee’s Advisor, said, “Lee is a talented artist, Lee designed a professional logo last year for the National MS Society Northern Utah Community Outreach Council. The Northern Utah chapter of the Utah/Idaho MS Society will begin meeting and planning events again soon and plan to use the logo with pride! Lee also has an entire webcomic called ‘Shape Shaped Friends’ that adorns much of my classroom wall space and spends most of their free time drawing in class. Lee is always kind, respectful, and is ready to offer friendship or a kind word to anybody. Lee came to us quiet and reserved and while that hasn't changed too much, Lee has improved and grown an incredible amount as both a student and a person here at GWHS. We are very fortunate to have Lee with us here at GWHS.”
Lee’s Art Teacher Mr. Muncy wrote, “Whatever I write about Lee, it won't be sufficient. Lee is a remarkable person with a pleasant and unassuming demeanor, yet they are one of the more accomplished students and artists in this school. It is hard to find someone who can be so modest and so competent at the same time. Their artwork is creative, imaginative, original, and of the highest caliber. They are adept at creating paper/pen drawings, digital work, and three dimensional work equally well. They have a gentle sense of humor. Their presence and their artwork encourages others to want to be better. It's a pleasure to know and work with Lee.” Ms. Merrill, the student teacher working with Mr Muncy, added, “Lee is an extremely innovative artist with their own made characters. They take the time to fill out small details meticulously and always have finely made finished works.”
Their plan is to attend OTech for Graphic Design or CAD and then move on to WSU for Graphic Design or anything artsy. They hope to pursue a career in Art in writing comics or designing characters.
Congratulations, Lee! Keep up the good work.
