What's Going On At Veritas!

Welcome Back!

We are excited to welcome our students back to school on Tuesday morning! The day begins for all students in grade 1 to grade 9 at 8:35 am with the first bell, and ends at 11:00 with an early dismissal. Wednesday is our first full day beginning at 8:35, with grade 1 to grade 6 students dismissed at 3:00 and grade 7 to grade 9 students dismissed at 3:10. Kindergarten parents, please check your individual calendars for your child's September schedule.

We are continuing with Seesaw throughout Veritas School this year! Everything that you need to know about what is happening at Veritas and in your child's classroom will be shared via Seesaw, including newsletters, important dates, and their learning experience! I invite you to watch this Seesaw video:

Please don't delay in accepting your emailed invitation to Seesaw so you receive all information from Veritas School and your child's teacher!

Parent To-Do List

  1. Proof of Address: The Ministry of Education requires that we have proof of address for every student on file. The easiest way to provide proof of address is with your driver's license or BCID. Other options include a rental agreement, utility bill, municipal tax bill, or mortgage statement. Please either email a picture of your proof to or bring it to the school office and we will make a copy.
  2. Tuition and School Fees: Please complete the blue payment option forms and specify your method of payment. Blue forms were sent home at the end of June in the final report card or mailed home in July to new families. If you require a new form, please stop by the school office. The email for e-transfers is
  3. Criminal Record Check: All parents must have a CRC on file at the school office before volunteering in any school activities. CRC's are valid for five years, expiring on your birthday. If you haven't completed yours, you may do so online at and use the access code DLTLFMPHUE. Please call the office if you have any questions.
  4. Driver's Abstract: All volunteer field trip drivers must have a current driver's abstract on file before volunteering as a driver on a school field trip. Driver's abstracts must be renewed when your driver's license is renewed. To complete your driver's abstract, please visit Vehicle insurance must also be on file and a new copy provided when your insurance is renewed. A copy of your drivers license is also required.
  5. After School Care: After School Care (ASC) begins on Wednesday, September 6. All forms, including immunization records, must be submitted prior to your child/ren attending ASC. Please call or visit the school office for ASC forms or to update your child's existing information.

Additional Notes

  • VPSG: The first VPSG meeting is on Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 in the grade 1 classroom. We invite all parents to attend, as many hands make for light work!
  • School Council: The first School Council meeting of the year is on Thursday, September 14 at 7:00pm. The meeting begins with an open invitation to all, before we move to the in-camera portion of the meeting.
  • Hot Lunch: Information on Hot Lunch will be coming soon! Watch for details!
  • Before School Supervision: The supervision of students prior to the 8:35 bell is limited to the front of the school and the parking lot area. For the safety of our students, they are not permitted on any playground equipment (front playground or kindergarten area) before school hours.
  • Absentee Notes: Please contact the school explaining your child's absences with Seesaw message, an email to the office (, or a phone call (250-635-3035). Absentee reports are crucial to our school's funding, as numerous unexplained absences throughout the school year can mean less government funding for your child.

Catholic Corner

During the month of September, Veritas School is pleased to be directly involved in two Masses at Sacred Heart Parish: Staff Blessing Mass at 9:00 on Sunday, September 10 and the first School Mass led by Staff at 9:00 on Wednesday, September 20. All families are invited to every Mass, whether your Catholic or not!
