CRHS Elementary Music Tour
CRHS Elementary Music Tour visited Hoover on Friday, January 6th. Our 4th and 5th-grade students were a wonderful audience. We had two Hoover alums that performed for us! It was a great way to showcase band, orchestra and choir to our 5th-grade students as they think ahead for their middle school years.
Hoover Alums - Michaela Velez and Cora Brooks were both members of the orchestra.
CRHS FAB Lab Open House
Coon Rapids High School invites our Hoover students to attend any and all of their FAB Lab Open Houses during the month of January. You will get exposure to 3D printing, lasers, Robotics arms, vinyl printing, and sublimation printing.
CRHS FAB Lab is open during the month of January from 6:00-8:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays:
- Jan. 5, 10, 17, 19, 24, 26, and 31

Health Services
FREE dental work for children on February 3rd and 4th at Volunteer Dental Clinics across the state.
COVID-19 test kits are available for students at no cost while supplies last. If you would like test kits sent home with your student(s), please fill out a form, and the kit(s) will be sent home. You can request one kit per child in your household. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Erickson at michelle.erickson@ahschools.us.
If you or your child are ill and would like to pick up a test, you can come to the main door and let staff know you are here to pick up COVID-19 test kits.
Winter Weather Updates
Please ensure students have dressed appropriately for the weather - jackets, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens, and proper shoes/boots. Students will be going out for recess. The guideline for keeping children inside for recess will be zero degrees or 10 degrees below zero wind chill. Accommodations for children with special medical needs can be made with the Health Services office; written documentation from a doctor will be required.
The safety of all students is the priority when determining if schools should stay open in extreme winter weather. The decision to close school is serious, affecting many working families who would have to take a day off work or find daycare on short notice. Read more about where to get information on school closings due to weather and how cold it must be for the school to close.
Transportation Update
As a reminder for our families with students riding buses, you can find information about the district's transportation services at https://www.ahschools.us/transportation and how to download the FirstView Transportation App to get real-time bus updates. Remember that the app might not be as accurate/updated when there are substitute bus drivers.
