Saxton Newsletter 16.4.21
Welcome Back!
We hope that everyone had a pleasant and relaxing Easter, and it has been great to see our children come back to school refreshed and with positive attitudes. We are all looking forward to an excellent and productive term.
Covid Restrictions
We are delighted that Covid restrictions have started to lift nationally. It certainly seems like we are returning to normality at last. We are, naturally, taking a cautious approach in school and the protective measures that we have initiated will remain in place for the majority of this term. When we are advised that it is safe to do so, we will ease these measures in a controlled way and will inform you as this happens.
Online Safety
Don’t forget that our website has useful advice regarding online safety and strategies that you can use to make sure that your child is not taking risks when they are on devices at home. This can be found under the ‘Useful Links’ tab.
Read for Good - Local Lockdown Writeups
My name is Lauren and I live locally with my sister Freya. I have started a short story competition to raise money for charity (Read for Good)
In this event people will write short stories on their lockdown experience. All the money raised from this will go to the charity ‘Read for Good’. This charity provides books for children in hospitals. We thought this was a good idea as our lockdown has been very difficult and so it must be even harder for the children in hospitals. There are 3 different age groups: under 10, 10 – 15, 16+ with prizes for each of the age group winners.
The competition is open until the 7th May. There is more information on the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Local.lockdown.write.ups/

School Lunches
Don't forget children no longer need to book school meals for the full week. Children can decide daily whether they are having a school dinner or packed lunch.
Please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like to order. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.
Each day there are 3 choices, either the hot dinner, the sandwich or the jacket potato with a choice of topping. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.
Next week we will be on Week 2 of the lunch menu below.
Covid Tests for Families
If you’re a member of a household, childcare bubble of a pupil, student or staff of a school, nursery or college, you can get a twice-weekly test:
- through your employer if they offer testing to employees
- at a local test site
- by collecting a home test kit from a test site
- by ordering a home test kit online

Reporting a positive Covid result out of hours
Should you believe your child to have Covid-19 symptoms and need to go into self-isolation, please notify the school office in the usual way via phone or email.
Should you receive a ‘test positive’ result for your child it is VITAL that you notify us as soon as possible: During school hours – directly to the school office via 01937 557396.
Out of hours send an email to covid@mf.starmat.uk (stating student’s full name and class, contact phone number, date and time of positive Covid test result – please use TEST POSITIVE in the title)
It is VITAL that you let us know as soon as you possibly can so that we can implement contingency planning.
