A warm welcome back to our community
Secondary Principal Message
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to term one.
We hope that you had a chance over the break to spend valuable time with your family and friends and also, perhaps you have had some time to discuss your child’s goal setting for this new academic year at Ajman Academy.
During the term, we will have the opportunity to meet with you and your child to discuss your child’s progress and shared goal setting with you.
We welcome all our families, returning and new, into our school community and look forward to working in partnership with you so that we can achieve the very best outcome for your child this year.
Our admissions, finance, maintenance, administrative, uniform shop and academic teams have been on hand busily preparing for the return to the new year and I extend a personal thanks to all staff for their work behind the scenes.
Working alongside me this year will be Mr Darren Stanbury who takes on the role of Deputy Principal and Ms Sam Hamdani as Assistant Principal.
I look forward to meeting you on Tuesday 18th, September at 3:00 PM for the first of our parent sessions for this year, the details of which are below.
We are excited about this year and have much to look forward to.
Best wishes,
Peter Ross
Secondary School Principal
Invitation to Meet and Greet
Please join us on Tuesday 18th, September from 3.00 PM to 3.30 PM where you will have the opportunity to meet our Director Mr. Fiyaz Ahmed who will be sharing an overview of our school strategic plan and the long-term vision for the school.
This will be the first of our parent sessions this academic year and we look forward to meeting as many of you as possible.
We have a number of parent events planned this year, and these events will be communicated to you via D6, newsletters, messages and our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram).
Parent Portal
Ajman Academy communicates to parents via D6, our website (www.ajmanacademy.com) and our social media channels.
Please ensure that you have the D6 application uploaded to your phone. To ensure you receive the news that is relevant to the grade level of your child(ren), please refresh your settings from last year.
Miss Rana Ghazal-Laghoutis, located at the secondary boys reception area, will be more than happy to assist you with this.
Grade 12 uniform requirements for 2018-2019
Our Grade 12 students have been informed that their dress code will be as follows:
Girls: approved school uniform OR black and white modest “office dress” to include: tailored trousers/long skirts
Boys: approved school uniform OR kandora/ghutra.
Uniform will be monitored closely throughout the Academic Year.
A reminder of our "No Mobile Phone" Policy
Parents and students are kindly reminded that we have a strict "No Mobile Phone Policy" at school.
A procedure is in place and there will be consequences for students who use mobile phones during the school day.
If your child requires to contact home for an important message, our admin staff will be able to assist.
At Ajman Academy, school is important!
We would like to remind you that the school day starts at 7.50 AM and finishes at 2.40 PM (1.00 PM on Thursdays).
Educating your child is an important job and to do it well, we need your support. Attending and arriving on time to school means that your child(ren) arrive each day ready to learn in their classrooms. Ajman Academy teachers are committed to providing the best education to your child and are ready to commence at 7.50 AM every day.
Regular attendance sets up a pattern for your child’s entire schooling. Please assist us in this process by scheduling routine doctor and dentist appointments for after school or during school holidays.
Please note that unless your child is required to be dismissed for an emergency family reason or we have received prior written notification, we will not interrupt classrooms prior to 2.00 PM for early dismissals. This policy will reduce the interruptions to classroom teaching and ensures that every child has the opportunity to maximise his/her learning opportunities.
If you need to make arrangements, please provide your child’s tutor with prior written permission. This will ensure that you are not inconvenienced and kept waiting whilst your child is released from the classroom.
Please note that if your child catches a bus home and you wish to change the arrangement and pick up your child on a particular day, our reception must be notified no later than 1.00 PM on the day. This will allow us sufficient time to notify teachers and your child(ren) of the change in arrangement. Late notification means that we may not be able to convey your message in time to your child(ren).
We thank you for your continuing support.
