Message from your Proud Interim Principal

Happy Veterans Day to all our parents, staff and community members who are veterans. Today is a national holiday honoring all veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The observance originated in 1919 and is also known as Armistice Day. Thank you veterans for your service to our country!

Next week is American Education Week which is a time to celebrate public education and the hard work of the teachers, staff and leaders in public schools. It is important to honor the individuals who make a difference in the lives of children everyday! Please take time next week to write a note of thanks to someone in the school who has made a positive impact on your child. People in education often hear more negative feedback than positive, so it is very special for a teacher or staff member to receive positive emails and letters about their work. Parsons Elementary has an outstanding faculty and staff who truly care about your children and they are passionate about education.

The PTA Movie Night scheduled for tonight had to be cancelled due to weather. I know this was disappointing for many families, but I assured the students we would reschedule for later in the school year. The weather did not cooperate with us for tonight. Thank you for your understanding.

I am excited to share with you that Ms. Clark will be returning to Parsons on the Monday after Thanksgiving Break. She has missed the students and staff over the past several weeks. She is excited to get back in the building and to interact with all of you! It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as the interim principal at this amazing school! Thank you for welcoming me into the school and community.

We are hosting Thanksgiving Lunches next week. This will be a fun time for you to enjoy lunch with your child. Be sure to thank the cafeteria staff for their hard work in preparing these special meals for all of us. Thanksgiving Break will be November 21 - 25.

Enjoy the weekend!

Sincerely,

Proud Interim Principal,

Mrs. Wanda F Law

United Way Spirit Week

Join us for United Way Spirit Week. Each day has an activity for students and staff to participate in. Donate $5 on MyPaymentsPlus to participate in the week's activities. Thank you for supporting United Way. Your donations to this event support United Way.

Computer Science Program needs your help!

Parents,

The computer science program is in need of empty cereal boxes, paper towel tubes, and toilet paper tubes. Instead of throwing yours away, please send them to Ms. Austin.

Thanks for your support!

Thanksgiving Parent Lunch Invitation (purchasing a ticket is a reservation)

Parents ~ A couple of reminders about next week's Thanksgiving lunch.
  • Please only plan to attend on your student's Thanksgiving Lunch day. The other days will be sack lunches in the classrooms, so you will not be able to eat with your child on those days.
  • Be sure to bring your picture ID for verification purposes.
  • We ask that you refrain from checking out your student after lunch. This will be a chaotic time with many visitors.
  • We ask that you go to the cafeteria at your student's specific lunch time. After lunch, you will exit back through the front lobby. No parents will be allowed to walk students back to their classrooms as they will resume their normal teaching and learning schedule.
  • Remember- your student's lunch time is different next week due to these special lunches. Be sure you have checked the invitation and ticket to ensure you come at the correct time.
  • No ice cream sales all week.

Gingerbread House Contest and Lighting of the Tree hosted by Gwinnett Historic Courthouse

With the holiday season quickly approaching, the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse has announced a Gingerbread House Contest will be part of the annual Lighting of the Tree festivities this year and they are introducing two new holiday events: Brunch With Santa and a Holiday Open House.

  • Gingerbread House Contest: We want to display your Gingerbread House during this year’s Lighting of the Tree event. Everyone is invited to build their own gingerbread house that will be on display in the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse’s Superior Court Ballroom from November 24th – November 30th. Entries will be accepted from schools, children/families/individuals, businesses, organizations and culinary students/professionals. There is no fee to participate. Don’t forget, the annual Lighting of the Tree event is Thursday, November 24th with festivities kicking off at 5:30pm.

  • Brunch With Santa or Breakfast With Santa: Children of all ages will delight in a yummy meal, make fun crafts, and share their wish list with Santa personally! Bring your little ones to hear Santa share a magical story and don't forget your camera for photos with ol' Saint Nick. Pre-register by December 2.

  • Holiday Family Photos: Bring a camera and your photographer for a 30-minute photo session for holiday photos in one of our many beautifully decorated settings. Reservations are required. Don’t wait because prime dates will sell out.

  • Holiday Open House: Visitors are welcome to enjoy self-guided tours of the beautifully decorated Courthouse, including the lovely Superior Court Ballroom, beautiful Blue Ready Room, quaint Intimate Wedding room, and Santa’s homey Living Room. Take photos with personal cameras and enjoy holiday treats with friends and family. Children can leave a letter for Santa in his mailbox.

We look forward to you joining us this holiday season!

Sincerely,

Lisa
