What's Happening in PBS?
Week of 10/10-10/14
This is an odd week in PBS because we have block scheduling for midterms. Sorry for the delay in getting this out, the block schedule always messes up my to-list!
On Monday, the students started their DNA assignment by doing some basic research on the structure of DNA. Yesterday and today we are on block schedule and the students are continuing with this assignment. They are working with a model of DNA and drawing pictures/answering conclusion questions. Tomorrow when we are back on regular schedule, we will be recapping the information from this assignment. We will also be making the transition into analyzing DNA in order to use it to identify an unknown substance. This will take us into Friday as we explore restriction enzymes and gel electrophoresis.
Looking forward, I have assigned the kids their next 4 career journals. They will not get a full class day to work on them, but they have until NEXT Thursday (10/20) to turn them in and can work on them in any extra class time they have before then. Their next test will also be Friday 10/21 and they will receive their review this friday.
Finally, we have a lot going on with HOSA in the next 3 weeks. I encourage you to take a look at the calendar and see what we have. Most volunteer events require sign up links that are found on the calendar. Not only will the events be fun, but there are a lot of PD point opportunities available. http://bsfchosa.weebly.com/calendar.html
Thanks!
