Greetings, CVE Families!

I hope all is well with you and your families. Back in November, an accident took place on Mulberry St. where a student was hit by a car. We have asked that no one drop their student off by parking across the street from the school. Since this accident, I have asked my staff to park in the back to give families space to park in the lot while dropping off. We are still seeing parents parking on the other side and walking students over or letting the students out to cross over on their own. Please use the parking lot to drop your student off and reframe from parking across from the school. While I understand that the accident didn't happen while that parent was dropping off the students for school, we want to be proactive in avoiding any danger that could occur in the future. Please use the parking lot. There are plenty of spaces available.

I also asked that you not pull up between the buses or the signs out front indicating "Bus Only." I understand that many of you are rushing to get to work, but we want to avoid any accidents. We want to ensure the safety of our students, and this is the only way to do so.

I appreciate your understanding!

Message from our PTO....

This week the PTO sent out two forms for the upcoming PTO meeting on the 17th of this month.

One was a 1/2 sheet with the QR code for the meeting. The other is an election sheet if you’d like to run for a position within the PTO. If you’d like to hold a position please send the form back with your child on Monday, so that gives our PTO time to get the information together for elections.

What's Happening in 4th Grade with Mrs. Phillips....

Mrs. Phillips students were introduced to electricity as a form of energy in their Science lesson this week. In the activity, Build a Flashlight, students investigated how electrical energy requires a circuit, and then they made their own mini flashlights from LEDs, button batteries, and strips of aluminum foil. They also learned about the anatomy of a battery, began to see how circuits work, and discovered how handy an on-off switch can be. So fun!

What's Happening in the 4/5 Blend with Ms. Ford

During the month of March, 5th grade participated in the Million Word Challenge. This is a free reading challenge for students to participate in. The students had to read articles and complete tasks through a virtual simulation. The students were assigned tasks to complete, and each decision they made impacted the results (text that they read). Each student had to each read at least 17,500 words each by the end of March to reach our goal of 175,000 words. The top three students who exceeded their individual goal are, Tayla Henley in 1st who read 39,055 words, Kamiyah McGee in 2nd read 29 940 words and in 3rd Keagan Rosso read 25,869. Awesome job to these three students who went above and beyond! The students received a free t-shirt, a draw string bag, a water bottle, a millionaire-club ribbon, and a Bluetooth speaker. Thank you, Read to Lead for creating this challenge to help students improve reading in a virtual and interactive platform.

Student T-Shirts will be distributed next week

We want to thank you for all of the support you have given your student and the school this year. Our fabulous PTO & Clinton Valley Elementary came together to provide all of our students with School T-Shirts to show our appreciation for the support you have provided our students and our building. They have already arrived and will be sent home with the students next week.
