John Ericcson

John Ericcson was born July 31, 1803 and died Mach 8, 1889. He first worked as the supervisor for a mine in Varmland. His only formal education was a basic officers education and training.

The first ironclad battleship, Gloire, was launched by the French Navy in November 1859
