Instructional Update
DISD Curriculum & Instruction September Report
#ObserveMe
At the most recent Instructional Coaches' meeting, we discussed establishing campus opportunities for teachers to observe and learn from each other. Hopefully, the ICs have brought this idea to their principals and campus leadership teams. Because we know teachers love to learn from other teachers, we want to encourage this simple approach to instructional and professional growth. The voluntary system the coaches discussed implementing is the current trend of #ObserveMe. Click the link for more details, read the examples below and check out a possible DISD #ObserveMe sign in the upper right corner.
The mindset of those participating in #ObserveMe is that we all need feedback in order to improve in our current practices. As seen in the link above, even administrators like principals and an assistant superintendent, are willing to ask for feedback in order to grow.
The C&I Department is asking each campus to put plans in place for teachers, on a voluntary basis, to observe and be observed by their peers during the 2nd nine weeks.
What are your thoughts? How can C&I help make this accessible and voluntary method of professional development successful at your campus?
