Think Tank in Third

Weekly Update- October, 28th 2016

Our Week at a Glance

Reading- We finished The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe! We were excited, but sad to finish it. We will watch the movie today to see if our visualizations are the same at the movie producers. We will move on to another read aloud next week and continue discussing making inferences.

Math- We have started our e4tech lessons that are mostly focused on geometry right now. Students created a map to show a math and their buildings had to meet geometrical constraints. Overall they did a great job! We will continue with these lessons next week.

Science- We started talking about states of matter (solids, liquids, and gasses). Students are able to identify states of matter all around them.

Social Studies- e4tech lessons are tying in nicely with social studies standards (mapping). Flat Stanleys were mailed out and we've started receiving some mail back!! Yay!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Conferences are quickly approaching, and we wanted to get the dates/times for that out to you ASAP. Below is a signup genius for you to sign up for a conference time. The dates we will hold conferences will be Tues. Nov 15th and Weds. Nov 16th.

Due to the number of conferences, we are going to keep conference times to 15 minutes per student. We will send a pre-conference form beforehand so that we are prepared to answer all of your questions and discuss any of your concerns. We want to be mindful of everyone's time, as we know you are all very busy.

Please be sure you are sending a healthy snack for your child. We have a very limited supply of snacks, and nearly half of our students are saying they don't have snack on a daily basis. We understand sometimes mornings are hectic, but please try to send a snack with your child.

Fall Party

A huge "thank you" to Colleen Wildenhaus and Jennifer Mechling for putting together the fall party! Also- thank you to any parents who volunteered their time to come to the party and/or sent in materials.

We appreciate all that you do!
