Please look on our website for up-to-date information.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thankfully this week we have seen a big reduction in the number of new Covid cases in school which means we are now able to meet together again for assemblies and lunch. We will need to stay vigilant however and I ask that you continue to monitor your children for signs of illness and to use lateral flow tests twice per week if you can.

This week all classes have enjoyed taking part in a Futsal session in the MUGA. Teachers reported some great ball skills across each class. We also celebrated World Poetry Day on Thursday 7th with classes learning and reciting a poem for the rest of the school. Mrs Cameron has put a selection of poetry up around the school and it has been a joy to watch the children stop and read a poem as they move around the buildings. Perhaps you could share your favourite poem with your child this weekend?

Finally, just a few messages and reminders:

  • On Monday 11th October we will be marking World Mental Health Day in school by having a non-uniform day and collecting for Mentally Healthy Schools.
  • Monday 18th October will be our Harvest Festival worship. We will be collecting dried foods, tins and toiletries as usual to be donated to Selby Food Bank. Please bring any donations on the day and thank you in advance.
  • A polite reminder please that parents should not be using the staff car park when collecting children from school or after school clubs. We have a very tight risk assessment for our staff car park which means that there must be no vehicle movement in the car park when children are leaving the site. Please help us to keep our pupils safe.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Karen Williams

Message from the Head Boy and Head Girl

This week we have noticed particularly that everyone has been inclusive towards others. To prove this, we haven't seen anybody left out in games or at playtime.

We hope everyone enjoyed their poetry activities this week and the Futsal skills that we learnt. Everyone did an amazing job.

The other thing we've recognised is the play equipment has been very popular recently after the clean. Everyone has been taking turns, e.g. 5 spins on the bars or 3 runs on the wheel then it's the next persons go.

It's nice to see everyone playing so nicely together.

Florence & Harry

Times Tables Rock Stars

Unfortunately due to a technical glitch, we are unable to see the Statistics for TTR but well done to all those who have worked hard this week and hopefully we will be able to give some certificates out next week.

Congratulations to Emie P, Freddie W, Howie G and Emila C who have worked really hard on Numbots this week and received their certificates.

The whole school have enjoyed a Futsal taster session this week. We were very impressed by the teamwork shown and everyone had lots of fun learning some fabulous new skills.

We are hoping there will be an after school club offered this space.

Gardening Club Request

If anyone has any small offcuts of carpet for the gardening club please would you drop them off in the office. Thank you

NYES Catering are excited to announce their annual Pumpkin Carving Competition! We want to inspire primary and secondary pupils to get creative in their kitchens with this Autumnal inspired event.

We want pupils to (safely!) carve or decorate a pumpkin at home – they can be scary or cute – you are the decider in this challenge!

We’ve even enlisted the help of The Whole Hogg Farm Shop & Tearoom – a local, family business that celebrates local and seasonal produce; including home grown pumpkins to pick– to help choose the winning masterpiece along with 2 of our in-house judges. The Whole Hogg team/family are really looking forward to seeing all of your brilliant designs, and the fun you have with your pumpkins!

There is an exciting first place prize to be won – an Amazon Fire 7 Tablet with 7” Display and 16GB data! Plus a runners up prize of a fun Colouring Book.

We will also share a couple of tasty recipes to use up your unused pumpkin to reduce your food waste from carving your magnificent pumpkins!
