Dear Parents and Carers,
Thankfully this week we have seen a big reduction in the number of new Covid cases in school which means we are now able to meet together again for assemblies and lunch. We will need to stay vigilant however and I ask that you continue to monitor your children for signs of illness and to use lateral flow tests twice per week if you can.
This week all classes have enjoyed taking part in a Futsal session in the MUGA. Teachers reported some great ball skills across each class. We also celebrated World Poetry Day on Thursday 7th with classes learning and reciting a poem for the rest of the school. Mrs Cameron has put a selection of poetry up around the school and it has been a joy to watch the children stop and read a poem as they move around the buildings. Perhaps you could share your favourite poem with your child this weekend?
Finally, just a few messages and reminders:
- On Monday 11th October we will be marking World Mental Health Day in school by having a non-uniform day and collecting for Mentally Healthy Schools.
- Monday 18th October will be our Harvest Festival worship. We will be collecting dried foods, tins and toiletries as usual to be donated to Selby Food Bank. Please bring any donations on the day and thank you in advance.
- A polite reminder please that parents should not be using the staff car park when collecting children from school or after school clubs. We have a very tight risk assessment for our staff car park which means that there must be no vehicle movement in the car park when children are leaving the site. Please help us to keep our pupils safe.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Message from the Head Boy and Head Girl
We hope everyone enjoyed their poetry activities this week and the Futsal skills that we learnt. Everyone did an amazing job.
The other thing we've recognised is the play equipment has been very popular recently after the clean. Everyone has been taking turns, e.g. 5 spins on the bars or 3 runs on the wheel then it's the next persons go.
It's nice to see everyone playing so nicely together.
Florence & Harry
Futsal
We are hoping there will be an after school club offered soon.....watch this space.

But if you are interested in joining the committee and not able to attend the meeting please email friends@kf.starmat.uk with your expressed interest in joining and this will then be read out by the current chair.
