Muraski Tribune: Issue 20

Message From the Principals

Good Afternoon Muraski Families,

I hope you are staying warm with your families on this cold, snowy Sunday, or enjoying a fun filled day in all the new snow that fell today with your kids. We are already in the final week of January, and that means there is a lot going on and coming up at Muraski Elementary. A few things to note:

  • We are currently in the process of holding data meetings based on winter benchmarking through Aimsweb. During these meetings, we use information to plan intervention and enrichment opportunities for our kids during WIN Time. This time is designed to give all kids what they need during the school day. We are currently targeting reading, so your child may be working within a small group for support or meeting with a different teacher based on their needs.
  • Conferences are coming, so please take a look at the information below.
  • Several PTA Events are quickly approaching. Fliers and information are shared below.
  • Our PBIS programming is in full swing. Look for an exciting opportunity with Mrs. Hawk communicated below.

It's going to be cold week at Muraski, but we are always ready to help our kids learn and grow each day!

Have a great week!

Mike Griffen

COVID-19 Reporting

As our mask mandate was lifted last week, and masks are now strongly recommended but optional, you will begin to receive reports if and when your child is directly exposed to COVID-19 in our schools, as they were provided prior to our winter break. We will do our best to contact trace when necessary and inform you of any exposure that occurs, specifically when masks are not involved with a positive case in the school.

New Title One Support

Muraski Elementary was able to bring on 3 new Long Term Substitutes to support our Title One Reading Program because of a surplus of federal dollars earmarked for that program. This means that we are able to increase the number of students that we support through Title One Reading at Muraski. If your child qualifies for services during the school day, you will be notified via a letter. We are very excited to have this additional support at our school.

Conference Nights

Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up on Tuesday, February 1st and Wednesday, February 9th from 4:45 - 7:45 p.m. Please look for information coming home with your child. These conferences may be scheduled in-person or virtual.

Family Climate Survey

School Climate Survey

It is very important to us at Muraski that we maintain a positive school culture and climate for our students and staff. We want students to feel safe and happy about coming to school each day. As a way to ensure we are doing everything here at Muraski to support your child at school, we are asking that you set aside 10-15 minutes throughout this next week to fill out a School Climate Survey. This survey consists of 21 questions where you are asked questions regarding your perception of Muraski's school cimate using a 4-point rating scale (ranging from strongly agree to strongl disagree). The survey will close on January 31st. Once the window has closed, we plan on using the information gathered from the survey to plan our next steps as a building after the holiday break. We will also be communicating these results with you in January. Thanks so much for taking the time to complete this survey. With the support and feedback you povide us, we are hopeful to continue providing our students with a safe, fun, and positive learning environment.
