Yesterday, the Wolf Administration reiterated that school districts residing in a county that is in the Substantial Transmission Level should move to a Remote Learning Model until that county returns to a Moderate or Low Transmission Level.
Blair County has been in the Substantial Transmission Level for the past 4 weeks. We feel in the best interest of our staff and students it is best we move to a remote learning model for the month of December. This includes all students K-12 as well as CTC students. All CK Athletics are on hold while we are in the remote instruction mode.
It is our hope that students can return to a face to face instruction model as soon as safely possible. We will provide an update to parents no later than December 22nd regarding our January calendar.
Despite all schools moving to the virtual platform, it is important that you continue to report positive cases among students so that we, in turn, can report all school related cases to the PA Department of Health. Reports can be made to your building principal or school nurse. Cases will be monitored to ensure a safe transition back to face-to-face instruction following the holiday break.
We have posted some statistics regarding cases in our county, state, and school district below.
We apologize for this inconvenience and we greatly appreciate your continued support as we make our way through this difficult time.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Updated Travel Restrictions for PA
As you may be aware, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADoH) has issued an order taking effect on November 20, 2020.
This order requires individuals entering Pennsylvania from other countries and states to have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entering Pennsylvania or to otherwise quarantine for 14 days upon entry into Pennsylvania.
The following site explains this order:
https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/pages/travelers.aspx
We strongly suggest that you avoid traveling out of state. If the circumstances necessitate traveling outside of Pennsylvania, we urge you to follow the protocols outlined in the PADoH’s order. Individuals that are quarantined due to travel outside of Pennsylvania should contact their child's building principal about next steps.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Covid -19 FAQs
I’m sure everyone is aware of the increase in positive test results for COVID-19 in our immediate area.
As would be expected, people have lots of questions and concerns.
While I am not a medical expert, I’ll do my best to address some of the ones I’ve heard the most.
1 When will we get back to normal?
a. That is a very good question, I expect us to be in this unstable state the rest of the year.
2 Why didn’t you tell us who the student/teacher was or the classroom they were in?
a. In a nut shell, HIPPA. We try to be as discreet as possible in conducting contact tracing. If we have any reason to believe an individual was in contact with the person, they are contacted.
3. My child was in the same space as the student/teacher and not identified as a close contact?
a. The PA DOH defines a close contact as exposure for 15 minutes at less than six feet. Passing someone in the hall or being in the same area wouldn’t fit the definition of a close contact by either definition.
4. My child spent time with one of the individuals on quarantine, should I also quarantine?
a. No. This is considered a contact of a close contact. If the person in quarantine does in fact develop symptoms, DOH will want us to go back 48 hours in contact tracing. That goes for siblings of any of our students on quarantine. The sibling can come to school unless the quarantined student shows symptoms.
5. I want my child to be tested to make sure they are safe.
a. The decision to be tested for COVID-19 is up to the individual. My understanding it can take up to 14 days for symptoms to show. That is why a person that is quarantined may not return to school even if they receive a negative test.
