Q and A with Dr. Morgan and Staff
Questions for this column are questions of general interest submitted each month in Superintendent's Cabinet meetings.
Is it possible to only have one volunteer application with no levels? Both levels are needed based on upon circumstances. The difference in the two statuses depends upon the type of interaction adults have with our students. Distinguishing between levels is more of a proactive measure that we take at the district level to ensure compliance with policy and state law. In addition, not all volunteers need or even want the Level II status, which has costs associated with it.
The food service staff has an annual conference the 2nd weekend of October. We have classes, learn from others in our field, test possible food choices for our schools and many other activities just on that Friday that we usually miss. Is there a way for the 2nd Friday of October to be a holiday each year so that we can attend the conference? The calendar committee can take a look at this request but would have to find another day during the school year to be one of the 180 required student days.
