Thank You, From the Bottom of Our Hearts!
We would also like to thank all of the amazing volunteers that helped make our PAWS party a success. The kids had a blast celebrating their awesome behavior! If you haven't had a chance to attend a PAWS party yet this year, it's not too late. Our next event is Thursday, March 28th, watch for more info. as the date draws closer.
Early Release & Conferences
Dear Parents,
Early Release conferences are next week. Dyer students will be dismissed at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, February 20th and Thursday, February 21st. Please be sure to note these important schedule changes. Also, please note that lunch times have been adjusted to accommodate the early dismissal and lunch visitors are not permitted on the above days.
The purpose of a parent-teacher conference is to discuss student achievement and progress. Each parent-teacher conference will last for a period of twenty minutes, and both parents are urged to attend. Please be prompt as these conferences are scheduled consecutively. If a situation arises and you are unable to attend your scheduled conference, please notify the teacher so the conference can be rescheduled.
To schedule your conferences this year, simply go to our school’s conference site https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Dyer_Elementary_School_3 and click on your teacher’s name. There you will be able to see your teachers’ schedules and sign up for a time that best suits you. The ability to sign up for a conference online will close on Friday, February 15th at 3:00pm. Please contact your child’s teacher directly to sign up after the close of online scheduling.
We look forward to seeing you during conference week.
Sincerely,
Sally Simmons
Assistant Principal
Teacher Snacks for Conference Days - Help Wanted!
We all know what long days the teachers have preparing for and meeting with conferences, so the PTO would like you to join us as we ‘treat’ our Dyer staff to some snacks to help them get through their day.
Please look at the grade level that your student(s) are in, and send in the corresponding snack item by Tuesday, February 19th. We’re going to set up the Bear’s Den for the teachers to come in and grab a snack and a drink.
As we did in the fall, we will have carts/wagons at the bus entrance, as well as at the car rider lane for your donated items. Please try not to send them to the classrooms, as we want the teachers to be surprised. You are also welcome to leave your donations in the office, as there will be a cart there as well.
Wednesday, Feb. 20th – Grab and Go (All items need to be in individually wrapped packages)
Parents of the following grade levels, please send in the items assigned to your grade level.
- K – Cheese or Peanut Butter Crackers and/or small apples
- 1 – Granola Bars and/or Protein Bars (hard or chewy)
- 2 – Fruit/Veggie Packs with dip and/or Cheese Sticks
- 3 – Small bags of Chips/Pretzels/Apple chips/Bagel Chips
- 4 – Cereal/Fruit Bars and/or Protein Bars
- 5 – ‘Little Debby Type’ Snack cakes (any kind) and/or Cheese sticks
Thursday, Feb. 21st – Make your own Trail Mix ( items need to be in full-size bags as we’re putting into bowls with scoopers)
- K – Goldfish and/or Dry Cereal (anything that would go well in a trail mix)
- 1 – Large bag of small pretzels (sticks/swirls, etc) and/or raisins
- 2 – Popcorn (already popped) and/or Craisins
- 3 – M + M’s and/or chocolate kisses
- 4 – Bag of chocolate (or peanut butter chips) and/or dried fruit
- 5 – Nuts (can or jar – any kind) and/or dried fruit
(Of course, you may donate ANY item(s) on this list if need be…we were just trying to get a variety of goodies for the teachers to snack on. )
*One last note – if you’d like to volunteer to help set-up or ‘man’ the teacher bar anytime on Wed. or Thurs., please email Chris Dilworth @ tkmom12@att.net.
Thanks, in advance, for helping to make our teachers feel appreciated!

The Dino-Mite Book Fair is coming to Dyer Elementary. We need your help to make our book fair a success. Attention 5th Grade Parents!
Please help us make the end of the year special for our 5th graders. We have several end of the year (EOY) events planned for 5th grade students, but we need your help. We’re asking each parent to donate $20 to offset our EOY 5th grade activities. Your donation will cover the following:
· 5th grade T-shirt (worn on the field trip and at field day)
· Food and festivities for our 5th grade celebration/party day
· 5th grade gift back to the school
We’re asking each parent to use MyPaymentsPlus for their donation. Just look for 5th grade EOY activities. Our deadline is Friday, March 29th. We’re hoping a one time donation will make things easier for parents while giving the 5th grade committee time to plan a send off your student will never forget!
Calling All Shutterbugs!
Our Yearbook creator and editor is looking for pictures of our Bears on their first day of the 2018-2019 school year! If you have any photos to share, please add them to our dropbox (link below). If you have photos of other events from the school year, feel free to share those too! The dropbox is private, and only our Yearbook Editor can access it. Thanks in advance for your help!
In Case of Inclement Weather...
Just a friendly reminder that in the event of inclement weather, Gwinnett County's school calendar has two (2) make-up days built in, but the county could opt to use a Digital Learning Day instead. In the event that the decision is made to use a Digital Learning Day, Dyer Elementary School will alert you through electronic communication. This information will also be posted on Gwinnett County Public School's website. Please find the flyer below with more detailed information regarding Digital Learning Days and the use of eCLASS.
