Putting a Mission into Motion
How do we begin to excel in a world that is ever-changing?
The world around us is changing faster than ever. Technologically, socially, philosophically...some for good, others not so sound. So how do we keep up with it all? The only answer is to maximize who you are every day.
Default behavior is natural; it is the path of least resistance, and therefore, it is the path we often take without deliberate focus. When you operate on default, you do not learn and grow. Discipline is challenging; it is the path of focused effort and requires intentional practice. When you proceed with discipline, you grow and get better.
Excelling in an ever-changing world requires disciplined behavior that is focused on skill improvement. It would be best if you focused on your development before you worry about focusing on the growth of others. As educators, we cannot support students' ability to excel in an ever-changing world with the same structures, strategies, and practices that we have always used. If we want others to be able to handle the unpredictable world, we must first build our skills to tackle these challenges.
More to come next week -- keep working to put our mission into motion! #FlyAsOne
