MASK PARADE
Since we’ll not be together for a Mask Parade this year, we are creating a digital one!
This year's Mask Parade will allow us to see and “hear” our Sycamore students. Our theme will be to share positive messages with one another. To participate, students will:
Take a picture of themselves with or without their face covering.
Add a positive message for their Sycamore friends. This can be a one-word, two-word, or three-word message they use as positive self-talk or words of encouragement for others. This message can be shared as a digital caption on their picture (see link to directions below) or a hand-made sign they hold in their picture.
Share the picture with Mrs. Stanger using this Google Form by October 26. https://forms.gle/i4ZdMfWodwvc1T71A (your child's CUSD Google Apps account will allow them to sign in)
These pictures will be assembled into a school-wide, digital “Mask Parade.” This will be shared during our Morning Meetings on Friday and later online under private settings for parents to view with their child. Please submit your child’s picture only if you want it included in the collection.
Guidelines: Our school’s mask parade is not connected to Halloween. We won’t be wearing Halloween masks but a face covering like those we wear for safety. That kind of mask is optional; it can be worn by students if they prefer or if their family would prefer participation with some anonymity. We will not include any pictures with student names, so please do not add your name or anyone else’s to the message in the picture.
Have fun!
Mrs. Stanger

Pizza Day, October 28
That's right... the only way to improve on Pizza Night is to make it last all day long. This Wednesday, October 28, we'd encourage you to enjoy pizza at Pizza N'Such for lunch or dinner. Let them know you're a Sycamore family and they'll donate 10% of your receipt back to our school. To help things run smoothly, consider placing your order early and if you are eating for dinner, opt for pick-up times within the suggested time frames: lower graders @ 4:00-5:30 PM and upper graders @ 5:45-7:30 PM. Thank you!
NOVEMBER-DECEMBER Materials Pick-Up
Families will pick up materials for both November and December on the following days:
Wednesday, November 4 from 1:00-5:30 PM
Thursday, November 5 from 1:00-4:00 PM
Friday, November 6 from 1:00-4:00 PM
Going beyond the classroom
In addition to the synchronous learning of the classroom, we offer additional academic support in "Response to Intervention" (RTI) groups and "WIN" or "What I Need" groups. If you'd like to consider additional supports for your child, please contact your child's teacher or Mrs. Stanger directly.
This week, the following activities will be available for students.
12:30-1:00 Monday: Grade 2-3 Book Club
12:00-1:00 Tuesday: Upper Grade Math Club (additional time based on students' request)
12:30-1:00 Tuesday: Grade 2 and 3 Math Club (extended to grade 2 due to students' request)
12:30-1:00 Thursday: Grade 4-6 Book Club
The links to these activities are available on the Sycamore Student Canvas page. All students received an invitation to this page on Friday. They'll need to accept that invitation, then students can access this page to see the Monday morning announcements and stay connected to school-wide activities. All content is optional; most is intended for students in grades 2-6.

Family Dance-Alternative
Typically, this weekend would be our school's Family Dance, a themed, fundraising event where children enjoy a carnival-type atmosphere and adults enjoy the company of fellow Sycamore parents. We'll miss the Family Dance this year, but clever members of our Governance Council have come up with a light-hearted, social-distanced, fundraising idea. Please watch your mailbox and check the Leaf email attachments for a copy. Thank you for your support.
