From Mr. Palow

I hope you and your family are safe and healthy. This week starts a new chapter at Heights Elementary and the School District of Lee County. There is going to be a huge learning curve that students, parents, teachers, and district personnel will be navigating together. As we make this unique journey together with very little, to no, preparation time please be patient. The online learning piece is brand new to everyone involved.

There is a lot of uncertainty taking place during this time. The one thing I can reassure you and promise you is that the School District of Lee County and the staff at Heights Elementary is doing everything we possibly can do to help your student get through this. Academically, socially, or emotionally we are here to help your student.

We are in uncharted waters but as a community, school district, and school we will pull through this tough time. I believe in our school district, I believe in the Heights staff, and I believe in your student.

Trouble with Google Classroom or Launchpad?

If parents are having no problem logging in to launchpad with their student’s credentials on a personal computer, but having issues with google classroom, the issue is probably that the parent is logged into their browser using their own google account. They will need to follow these directions:

Add a person or profile

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click Profile .
  3. Click Add.
  4. Choose a name and a photo.
  5. Click Add. A new window will open and ask you to turn on sync.
  6. (Optional) Turn sync on in Chrome with a Google Account for the new profile. Their bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings will automatically sync.

When creating the new person, it’s helpful to make sure the “Add desktop shortcut for this profile” so you can create browser instances already logged into the student’s new profile. You’ll need to log in to launchpad while in this Browser instance in order to get into classroom.

Lee County’s FOCUS Parent Portal provides parents/guardians a real-time view of their child’s assignment grades, attendance information, current grade averages in all classes, as well as progress monitoring results. Check out the form below if you still need to sign up.
