From Mr. Palow
There is a lot of uncertainty taking place during this time. The one thing I can reassure you and promise you is that the School District of Lee County and the staff at Heights Elementary is doing everything we possibly can do to help your student get through this. Academically, socially, or emotionally we are here to help your student.
We are in uncharted waters but as a community, school district, and school we will pull through this tough time. I believe in our school district, I believe in the Heights staff, and I believe in your student.

To obtain medication and/or medical equipment that belongs to your student and is currently at your child’s school you must do the following:
- Call your student’s school during normal school-day hours (starting Monday, 3/23/20)
- Explain to staff you need to schedule a date & time to meet with the School Nurse to pick up your student’s medication/medical equipment
- When you arrive at the school at your scheduled time the School Nurse will meet you in front of the school and bring the items to your car
- You will need your identification such as a driver’s license (so staff can identify you as the approved person for medication pick-up)
*Please note that many insurance companies and pharmacies are allowing patients to receive emergency refills. Please check with your insurance company and medical provider to determine if you can take advantage of this provision

Trouble with Google Classroom or Launchpad?
If parents are having no problem logging in to launchpad with their student’s credentials on a personal computer, but having issues with google classroom, the issue is probably that the parent is logged into their browser using their own google account. They will need to follow these directions:
Add a person or profile
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click Profile .
- Click Add.
- Choose a name and a photo.
- Click Add. A new window will open and ask you to turn on sync.
- (Optional) Turn sync on in Chrome with a Google Account for the new profile. Their bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings will automatically sync.
When creating the new person, it’s helpful to make sure the “Add desktop shortcut for this profile” so you can create browser instances already logged into the student’s new profile. You’ll need to log in to launchpad while in this Browser instance in order to get into classroom.

Grab and Go" Meal Pick Up Sites
The Food and Nutrition Services department will be serving a “Grab & Go” breakfast and lunch at selected schools and community sites. The USDA has granted the District the flexibility to provide these meals during a time of unanticipated closure.
Breakfast and lunch will be served together in a single bag. The meals are free for anyone 18 years of age and under. Each child must be present at the pick-up location to receive a “Grab & Go” bag. It is expected the meals will be eaten at home, and not the schools where they are picked up.
The meals will be available for pick-up between 9:00am and 11:00 am at the following schools.
