VIA ALC 2018 Newsletter #3
Pre-Arrival Information
Message from Director Yuki Ueda
Very soon, Stanford University will become your "home away from home" for the remainder of the summer. The ALC staff team eagerly awaits your arrival and is working round-the-clock to put the final pieces of the itinerary in place. This newsletter contains important information and reminders that will help you make a smooth transition to California in the coming weeks.
Carefully read this entire newsletter and complete any remaining pre-arrival tasks!
As always, feel free to contact me, Gaby, or your Coordinator with any questions or concerns that you have about ALC or about your upcoming life at Stanford.
Best,
Yuki

Getting to Stanford
After exiting customs, you will be on the Arrivals floor of the international terminal. Please look for the friendly VIA staff members holding signs. If you arrive early and do not see any staff, please wait at the Starbucks in the middle of the Arrivals hall (there is only one Starbucks on this level).
2. Shuttle to Stanford
VIA will arrange transportation from the airport to Stanford University. If you plan to get to Stanford on your own, please contact Yuki.
3. Remember: You cannot enter the USA without your VISA/ESTA Documents!
For more information on these requirements, visit the CANVAS website.
4. What To Pack
Please limit your luggage to ONE suitcase and one other bag such as a backpack. Remember that if you bring it, you must carry it! Also, you will probably want to buy some souvenirs while you are here, so don’t forget to leave some space in your luggage for the return trip.
The suggested packing list, weather information, and other travel tips can be found on the CANVAS website.
