Congrats Mrs Labbe!

For the past 29 years one of the consistent things about Superior Elementary has been Mrs. Labbe. The number of students that have had their lives changed and impacted by Mrs. Labbe are countless. While teaching in Superior she has taught a multitude of grades and has spent the last years of her career in kindergarten where her students get to start school with one of the best. A former student and student teacher, Mr. L, who will have the task of trying to fill her enormous shoes, says “Mrs. Labbe is an inspiration, her commitment to her profession and the future of every student she has the opportunity to teach is something that we can all strive to achieve. Mrs. Labbe has helped to cultivate the feeling of school family here at Superior Elementary. Lastly, her commitment to the whole child is incredibly amazing.”

Mrs. Labbe’s presence here in the building will definitely be missed by all who walk the halls. We LOVE you Mrs. Labbe and we wish you the best of luck in your retirement! If you see Mrs. Labbe out and about wish her congratulations!

Big picture

Sixth Grade Outdoor School

The sixth graders spent their week at outdoor school this week. This is a tradition that began 50 years ago where Superior's sixth grade students go up to Savanac Nursery, stay and have school for the week. This year 17 sixth graders took part in the activities. While there the students learned about pond ecology, outdoor survival skills, smoke jumping, bear awareness, archery and fishing. On Thursday the class traveled to Wallace and toured the Sierra Silver Mine as well as hiked the Pulaski Trail. The students were also able to have some fun during the week playing different kinds of games and singing for their meals. Mr. and Mrs. McElroy came up on Thursday night to do Minute to Win it games with the students.

Fun Run!

On May 19th all Kindergarten through sixth grade students participated in the fun run in St. Regis. It was a great event! Supreior students did awesome! Kindergarten through fourth grade students participated in the one mile fun run and then fifth and sixth grade students participated in a 5K. Younger students were also able to run in the 5K if they demonstrated that they would be able to finish prior to the date of the event. Cael Crabb finished with the first place time overall, howeve he is only a fourth grader so his time did not count towards a trophy. Ava White-McGoughy was the first sixth grade girl to cross the finish line and Zaimon Firestone was the first fifth grade boy. Those two earned a trophy for their accomplishments. The fun run rotates through the county schools as who's turn to host. The last time the event was held in 2019 it was in Alberton which means that next year it will be our turn to host!
