From the Principal
Students and staff enjoyed dressing to impress on Thursday! Please see some photos below showing our fancy attire!
This week, October 3-7, we will be celebrating both Farm to School Week and Digital Citizenship Week. We encourage students to learn where the delicious food they eat each day comes from. We also want all students to be safe while online. Staff will be teaching lessons this week and throughout the year to help students be responsible digital citizens. There will also be special dress up days to help celebrate. They include:
Monday--Wear crazy socks to promote healthy and SAFE digital footprints
Tuesday--Wear your favorite sports team attire to TEAM up and BE KIND (end cyberbullying)
Wednesday-- Wear tie dye to promote BALANCE in your digital life or Dress like a Farmer for
Farm to School Day
Thursday--Wear sunglasses to shine a light on using COPYRIGHT
Friday--Wear your favorite hat to put a CAP on FAKE information
We hope everyone participates in this fun dress up week!
LEES fourth graders will be collecting acorns and nuts during the week of October 3-7. Please see the information from Ms. Kipps inviting the whole school to participate:
Next week, October 3rd-7th, our 4th graders will be collecting nuts and acorns to send to the Virginia Department of Forestry’s nursery in Augusta. They will be counting up and organizing the nuts in their classroom to learn more about tree reproduction and tree identification while also strengthening their graphing, addition, and multiplication skills. If you and your family would like to help us collect nuts and acorns you can learn about what types of acorns and nuts they are looking for and how to collect them on the VDOF Acorn and Nut Collection webpage: https://dof.virginia.gov/forest-management-health/seedling-nurseries/acorn-and-nut-collection/
Local Virginia nuts and acorns help create strong Virginia forests. As we know from our school theme this year... from tiny seeds grow mighty trees!
Our Scholastic Bookfair kicks off on Friday, October 7, and will run until Thursday, October 13. It will be open daily from 8:00 AM-3:30 PM. There will be a special family night with evening shopping on Monday, October 10, from 5:00-6:00 PM.
I hope everyone stays dry and safe this weekend!
Take care,
Mrs. Ridder
