Team Mascot & Nickname
Boomer and Sooner are the costumed horse mascots that represent the school. The school also has real horses that pull the "Sooner Schooner," which is modeled after the pioneers who settled in Oklahoma around he time of the Land Run in 1889. These people got the name of "Sooners." The schooner became the official mascot in 1980.
Oklahoma's nickname is OU.
Slogan
Oklahoma's slogan, which is called out by fans everywhere is, "Boomer Sooner!"

According to the Oklahoma website, the term "Sooner" represents an "energetic individual who travels ahead of the human procession." Therefore, the school is really trying to convey their students as hardworking and insightful people.
