CGIS Sixth Grade Orientation Day
Thursday, July 28, from 8-11:30.
Hello Parent/Guardian of an awesome sixth grader!
CGIS 6th Grade Orientation
Coulter Grove has started a WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Program that will help get your 6th grader off to a great start! WHAT IS WEB? WEB is a nationwide program designed to welcome and support 6th graders by connecting them with WEB Leaders, who are positive, responsible, hand-selected 7th graders. Your student’s WEB Leaders will help them feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of ‘middle school’.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
1. A day before orientation, your child will also receive a phone call from their WEB Leader personally inviting them to orientation day and giving the details of where to be and what time. The Leaders can also answer any questions they may have.
2. Your student is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses or other like items as the day is quite active.
3. Because the day is active, full of fun get-to-know you activities, please make sure that your student wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.
4. School Cell Phone policy is in place for this day. They are discouraged to bring them but if they need to have them, the phones should be turned off and in a pocket until they are dismissed. This is a student only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on their own.
This program will help your student create friends and bonds even before the first day of school. Creating positive interactions will lessen stress and start our year off on the best foot!
Hope to see your student on Thursday, July 28, from 8-11:30. (No meals will be served) Please drop your student off at the first entrance by the music wing. We also want to invite you to the pool party Thursday evening from 7-9:00 at John Sevier Pool. If you have any questions, please contact Barbara Taylor Barbara.taylor@maryville-schools.org.
We are looking forward to creating great friendships and having a fantastic year.
