Weekly News--March 13-17

Principal's Message

We had some little leprechauns come through the school and leave a little mess in some of our classrooms. Those traps were clever, but the leprechauns were able to escape! Let's hope you have more luck at home! Lucky grams were delivered today to classrooms. Our amazing PTA puts in so much time and effort to bring extra joy to our classrooms.

Thank you for attending parent conferences this week and checking through our Lost and Found. Many items were able to returned to the rightful owners. Items that were left were donated. Thank you again to our PTA for your help! If you didn't have a chance to meet with your child's teacher, please reach out and schedule a time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school office or you can reach me by email at tcockerill@susanvillesd.org

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!

We will also be registering TK students for next year. In order to enroll in TK for the 2023-2024 school year, a child must turn 5 between September 2, 2023, and April 2, 2024.

If your child is enrolled in TK at McKinley this year, you do not need to enroll for kindergarten next year.

Mrs. Liz Alexandru, Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Alexandru loves being a kindergarten teacher at McKinley. She thinks the best thing about teaching kindergarten is seeing how much the students learn throughout the school year. For example, her kindergarten students didn't all know their letters at the beginning of the year, but know they are learning to read CVC words (cat, sit, mop, etc.) She also enjoys how sweet and easy going they are.

In her free time, Mrs. Alexandru likes to travel, especially to the ocean. She also travels to Canada to visit her sister and enjoys visiting the national parks there.

Mrs. Alexandru's wish for our students is that they will truly enjoy learning rather than just doing it because they are told to do so. She hopes that they learn outside of school and find out about things they are interested in. Ultimately, she wants each of them to be successful in life and hopes they build off the foundation started at McKinley.
