THE SCHOOL BELL
Williston School District / September 24, 2014
A Message from the Administration
Parents are a key component in the educational success of their children. In order to help parents be involved and informed about their children’s education, we spent time reviewing our current communication practices and how our behaviors can help parents be informed, supportive, and involved. The first chart represents our thoughts on how to have successful conversation between parents and school personnel. The second represents guidelines for teacher/house communications with parents.
We have changed the format of the BELL to make it more efficient and user friendly. The new Bell is much shorter and links bring you quickly to the information you desire.
Curriculum Nights and Learning Expos
Working with the Family As Partners (FAP), we linked the Learning Expos to curriculum nights. In addition, the FAP provided babysitting for families in need. This was a combined effort between parents and school staff to give parents access to the teachers of many programs they may not have a chance to meet. We hope you found this format and opportunity increased communication opportunities with school personnel. Judging by the parent turnout (possibly doubled from last year), we believe this opportunity was well received.

Check for Lice Regularly!
The Health Office staff urges everyone to check for head lice at least once a week. Students who had head lice in the past should be checked often for reinfestation. If you discover your child has head lice, please notify the Health Office. Communication is important to help prevent Head Lice from spreading.
