Learning about animals and humans in year 4
Year 4 have absolutely loved their new Science topic – 'Animals including humans'. Children began by working in teams to build the digestive system. This was a highly hilarious activity with small intestines put as brains and stomachs as ears! Once children were familiar with the organs and where they are located, they were taken on a disgusting journey through each stage of the digestive system. They were able to see just how important saliva is and what happens in the stomach and the small intestine. Let’s not mention how it all ends!
Finally, the children compared the human digestive system with those of other animals, such as birds and cows. Why does a cow have four stomachs? Why does a bird have a crop and humans do not?
Letters to the Man on the Moon!
