Book Fair
I SPY with my little eye ... a GREAT BOOK at the SPRING BOOK FAIR! It's almost here!
Our "I Spy" Spring Scholastic Book Fair will run from Thursday, March 9th to Friday, March 17th. We will have an in-school Book Fair set up in the library, as well as a fully online Virtual Book Fair option. Students can shop during their library class time (or other times convenient for their teacher) by bringing payment to school or using eWallet. We also have several after-school shopping times for families (no sign up needed). Our Book Fair will also be open for the two hours before BINGO!
Lunch - Ice cream
There has been some delivery issues with our ice cream so some Fridays students do not get to purchase ice cream if the delivery is in the afternoon.
We are adding Wednesday as another ice cream day to ensure we have delivery of ice cream. Please discuss with your child limits you might have on purchasing ice cream.
Health Clinic
Hello Bobcat Families,
As you clean closets and are wondering what to do with items your child may have outgrown…consider donating to the health office at Algonkian. There are plenty of t-shirts, but we could use sweatpants and shorts for girls and boys, in all sizes. Thanks!

Chronic Absenteeism
The Virginia Department of Education defines Chronic Absenteeism as any student who is absent excused or unexucsed for more than 10% of the school year.
We do not want students to come to school when they are sick. It is better if they stay home. But absences can pile up without families noticing.
There are many aspects of school life which must come together to ensure a successful student. Consistent attendance is one element which is necessary for good academic achievement. Valuable classroom instruction and interaction with teachers and peers is lost with each absence.

Ways to Support Algonkian Elementary

We are excited to be back for another wonderful year at Algonkian. We wanted to share a few easy, and FREE, ways you can support our school through your everyday purchases.
*Harris Teeter - Harris Teeter's Together in Education program provides funds for our school through your everyday grocery shopping. You can link your VIC card by going to tie.harristeeter.com/together-in-education and following the on screen instructions. You have to relink every year (starting August 1st) for your purchases to get credited to our school and then every time you shop, Algonkian will get a percentage of your purchase.
*Box Tops for Education - This is another great way to earn money for our school with items you already purchase. You can go to www.boxtops4education.com/s/get-the-app to download the app - no more clipping box tops! Just follow the instructions in the app to upload your receipt and Algonkian will receive a portion of the proceeds.

Free and Reduced Lunch
A reminder that if you receive Free and Reduced lunch that your child
