Our Final Week...

This has truly been a memorable year working with your students. All year, they have worked together as a community and supporting one another in their growth and goals. It's amazing to see their progress and how they've developed as academics and learners. I look forward to hearing about their continued successes and know they have the support structure to do well.

Toga Olympics Part 1

The students did a wonderful job leading planning, coordinating, and leading Field Day games last week. As a thank you, we conduct a field day for them - the Toga Olympics. They will compete as homeroom teams in "Roman-style" events such as Chariot (on kindergarten tricycles) Race, Discus (Frisbee) Toss, and Goose Chase, a scavenger hunt conducted throughout the school.

Tuesday - Minimum Day

6th Grade vs. Staff Kickball Game

Sunday, June 5th, 8:30-9:30am

Meadowood Park, Irvine, CA, United States

Irvine, CA

You are welcome to support the students (or the staff) in a fun battle of kickball. We will be at the baseball field closest to the Canyon View recess field and gate.

Toga Olympics Part 2

What will the standings be after day 1? Can another homeroom take the Toga Olympics trophy at the end of the day?

End of the Year Party

Hi Parents:

Our End of the Year Class Party will be Wednesday, June 8th at 12:30. We’re going out in style and serving a complete Mexican lunch. We will be serving make-your-own chicken or beef tacos on tortillas, rice, beans, salsa and churros. Drinks are either Sprite or water. The activities are piñatas (2 per class) and a water fight. If your child has a food allergy, please send them with their own lunch.

I will need volunteers to help me. I have to go to Costco and pick up 150 churros, so I need a couple of parents to go to the school and set up the food and piñatas for Mr. Nakano’s class. Basically you’ll meet with Evelyn Huang or Nayla Peabody and follow their instructions. Volunteers will need to be at school by 12:00pm and be prepared to stay until school ends at 1:30pm.

Please email me directly, at your quickest convenience, and let me know if you can assist. My email is amberdufault@sbcglobal.net

Thank you!

Amber Dufault

6th Grade Promotion

Thursday, June 9th, 11-11:45am

4515 Portola Pkwy

Irvine, CA

When looking for a place to sit, the students will be seated on the front of the stage, on the left side if you are facing the stage. They will be in five rows, in last name alphabetical order, with "A" in the front.

If you have been to a previous promotion, the students will be entering the theater a bit different this year. Instead of them being up on stage prior to starting at 11:00 and starting with a song, the students will be entering at 11:00 to start the program, going straight into the song.

There is no "required" dress, other than the standard school dress code. However, most boys tend to wear a collared shirt and pants, while girls wear a simple dress. As we are walking from Canyon View to Northwood High, all students are highly encouraged to bring walking shoes for the trip. They can change into "promotion shoes" before entering the theater and place their walking shoes under their chair.
