Sartartia Middle School 11.29.20
Hey Jags,
We are thankful for our entire Sartartia Family and hope that each of you had a happy, restful and safe Thanksgiving. We want to give a big shout out to our PTO and all of the parents that donated pies for our staff. Our teachers and staff were so excited to pick out a delicious pie that they could take home and share with their families. Thank you!
We look forward to welcoming everyone back from the break as we continue engaging our students in learning these last three weeks of the fall semester. As we return this week, here are a few quick reminders:
- All students should continue to complete the Skyward Wellness Screener daily
- Please be sure to send your child with a refillable water bottle to school each day. As we continue to follow all health & safety protocols, our water fountains are not useable but we have water bottle fillers available throughout the school
- Please be sure to review the FBISD's Updated 2020-2021 Instructional Calendar below

PTO Cash Drive
As you know the school is under construction. We need your help to bring a few blank walls to life. Your donations will help cover the cost of a new mural being painted in the big gym. Additionally, the curved wall by the counseling office is being covered with a printed mural that will motivate and inspire the students. We kindly ask for a monetary donation to the SMS PTO Cash Jag Drive. This is the only cash fundraiser drive for our PTO for the school year. Our annual goal is $25,000 and by donating $25/student we can definitely reach that goal! Please consider donating. Thank you to those who have already donated. Donate online or download the form to donate in person or by mail.
FBISD Coding Camp
Coding Camp is a virtual event open to FBISD students in grades K-8 and designed to help students to build creatively, reason systematically and apply computational thinking skills while learning how to code. This year the event will be held virtually with students using Teams, Schoology, and coding programs such as Scratch to practice coding skills. There will be workshops for all levels of users that allow students to either learn the basics of coding or go more in-depth with topics such as the creation of games and animations. Click here for more information and to register for Coding Camp.

Parent Support: Saving Student Work
As Fort Bend ISD students have increased their use of digital platforms, it has become increasingly important that students save and back up their work as a best practice. This best practice is critical to avoid data loss in instances of student schedule changes. The District recommends two methods for students to save and back-up their work: Schoology Portfolios and Microsoft OneDrive.
- Schoology Portfolios can be used as digital storage to save student work or showcase achievements and reflect on what they learn. The table below explains how to create the Schoology Student Portfolio and utilize this feature to save student work.
- Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud-based storage solution that is more secure and accessible than using device storage or flash drive storage. Even if something were to happen to the device, the personal files and folders would still be on OneDrive.
The attached document provides information on how to use the Schoology Portfolio and Microsoft OneDrive to save student work.
