Letter from the Principal
Steggie Families-
Please enjoy your Labor Day three day weekend. Students will return on Tuesday for assessment day. The schedule is below. Assessment day is important, it will tell us how to best serve your student. The idea is that each child grows in their learning journey this year and determining where they are on that journey is key. Please communicate with your child's teacher if you have questions about the September 7th assessment day. As always, thank you for supporting us and please let us know how we can best serve you and your student.
Thank you for sharing your children with us!
Stay Well, Stay Safe

District Opportunity for MCE Parents
Good afternoon McElwain Elementary,
My name is Jhomaira and I work at the ESC! I'm currently working on recruiting for our Five Star Leadership Academy (FSLA)! FSLA is a learning cohort for our parents and community members in which they are able to learn more about our school district. Through FSLA parents and community members are empowered to engage more and feel more connected at a district level.
Parents can apply here.
Our meetings are once a month from 9 AM to 11:30 AM at the Educational Support Center (ESC).
Title One Information
As a parent of a student at McElwain Elementary School, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teacher who instructs your child. This is a requirement for all districts that receive Title I funds. Federal law allows you to request certain information about your student’s classroom teacher. The law also requires the district to give you this information in a timely manner upon request. Listed below is the information about which you have the right to ask for regarding each of your student’s classroom teachers.
• Whether the Colorado Department of Education has licensed or endorsed your student’s teacher for the grades and subjects taught.
• Whether CDE has decided that your student’s teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances.
• The teacher’s college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and, if so, the subject of the degrees.
• Whether any teachers’ aides or similar para-educators provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
Please contact Robyn Werpy in the Adams 12 Five Star Schools Human Resources Office at 720-972-4058 or robyn.m.werpy@adams12.org if you would like to receive any of this information.
Can we help your students succeed by providing basic needs?
