Checking In
We have several parents that work at LM Wind Plant and we are praying that you all stay healthy through this time. We have several parents out there that are essential workers and we thank you! Parents that are working from home with children in the house. Thank you! We know that can be challenging to get everything done. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you!
Remember we are in this together. How you are handling things right now is ok. We will get through it. The most important thing right now is to hug your kids and let them know they are loved. We can't wait to be able to see all those smiling faces again and share big hugs! Please reach out to any of our staff or myself if we can help you with anything!
Our Viking staff has been missing everyone so much! Please enjoy the video we put together to share with you! Have a wonderful weekend! Video credit to Brittney Hoff

Distance Learning Update
Dear Elementary School Parents,
First of all, thank you for all your support and dedication to student learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Our principals and teachers have been soliciting feedback on how distance learning is working for parents and students as we conclude the 3rd week
in this new format.
What we have heard is it's very challenging and stressful for many families to manage this 'new normal.' Based on that feedback we'll be making some adjustments to the weekly schedule starting Monday, April 27.
Here is a summary of those changes:
We have reduced the number of required assignments in both Reading and Math.
We will move to a 4-Day Week, Mondays through Thursdays.
We have set aside Friday, now called Flex Fridays, for the following activities;
*Complete an attendance task.
*Complete any assignments still due.
*Optional extension activities.
*Specialists will continue to post their activities each Friday. Additional PE, Music, and Spanish activities will be available-no assignments though.
*A chance for students or parents to check in with teachers if they have any concerns or need assistance.
We hope these adjustments will ease some of the challenges and stressors you are dealing with.
If your child needs any extra assistance or support please reach out to your child's classroom teacher, school counselor, social worker or principal.
Thank you again,
JT
ND AAA School Safety Patroller of the Year - Brody Schneider
One of our 5th Grade students, Brody Schneider, has been selected as the North Dakota AAA School Safety Patroller of the Year for 2019-2020. Brody has worked hard as a student leader and safety patroller at Viking Elementary all year long. After being notified about the opportunity, Brody wrote a great essay detailing his experience as a student leader and safety patroller, as well as what he learned within his leadership role. Our Viking family is incredibly proud of Brody's accomplishments!
Brody will receive a plaque from North Dakota's AAA as Student Safety Patroller of the year, a $100 gift card, and he has earned Viking Elementary a $100 credit to help improve our safety patrol gear. Way to go, Brody!
