Introduction
South Carolina has many important events, about Native Americans, Explorers and first Settlers, and about the Palmetto state. Native Americans are very important in the thirteen colonies, in South Carolina about 20,000 Natives lived in South Carolina. South Carolina was found in 1521 by explorer Francis Gordillo. South Carolina is known for their beautiful plant life also known as the Palmetto state. those are some facts about South Carolina.
Native Americans
Native Americans are very important in the thirteen colonies, in South Carolina about 20,000 Natives lived in South Carolina. Native Americans came to South Carolina about 10,000 years ago. The Cherokee tribe was believed to be the biggest Native American tribe. South Carolina had everything the Natives needed, the soil was fertile,the river was full of trout, bass, and sturgeon, woods filled with animals such as dear, bear, wild turkeys, and ducks, and plants as wild plums, cherries, blackberries, hickory nuts, and strawberries. When the Europeans arrived, the Natives had practiced fore war with special games. After the war the Europeans were cruel to the Natives and hunted down all the rest of the Natives, only about 10,000 Natives live in South Carolina now. Native Americans were very lucky and smart people,and lived a good life.
Explorers and first Settlers
South Carolina was found in 1521 by explorer Francis Gordillo. Amerigo Vespucci was the first to notice that the Americas weren't the indies, and Amerigo named the New World America. The Carolina's were named after King Charles the I, Carolana, soon renamed by King Charles Carolina, Francis Gordillo had liked an indian so much he named it after him,Francis Chicora. Chicora was sold to Ayllon,Chicora told stories about South Carolina that interested Ayllon,especially the ones about treasure. Ayllon decided he wanted to sail to South Carolina and get treasure, Ayllon and his crew couldn't survive, by October 1526 Ayllon and the survivors went back to England. Therefore explorers and first settlers are very important people.
The Palmetto State
South Carolina is known for their beautiful plant life, also known as the Palmetto state. South Carolina is also known as the Palmetto state, the Palmetto is a small leaf shaped state. The Palmetto state is known for beautiful plant life like jessamines (the state flower), azaleas,magnolias,camellias, and many other flowers that make it beautiful. When the Europeans hunted down the Natives,they actually had the most tragedies for enslavement. When Europeans came to South Carolina,most of them died from Yellow disease from swamp land, from germ carrying insect. South Carolina had terrible epidemics. Last of all the Palmetto state is beautiful in many ways.
Conclusion
In conclusion South Carolina has some fascinating facts, like about the Native Americans, the Explorers and first Settlers, and the Palmetto state. Natives were very lucky and smart people and live a good life. Therefore Explorers and first Settlers are very important people. Last of all the Palmetto state is beautiful in many ways. Therefore South Carolina has very interesting facts.
