CHS WRESTLER RECOGNIZED BY HALL OF FAME
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame announced the state winners of the Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award, and CHS is proud to announce that Stefana Jelacic is Arizona’s state winner. Winners were evaluated and selected based on three criteria: success and standout performances and sportsmanship in wrestling; review of GPA and class rank, academic honors and distinctions; and participation in activities that demonstrate commitment to character and community. Congratulations, Stefana!
The AVID Class of 2020 earned over $400,000 in scholarships and will be attending four-year universities across the state to study Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Psychology, Business Administration, Physical Therapy, Secondary Education in Math, and more. This terrific class of AVID seniors, many of whom have been part of AVID for at least four years, made a positive impact in their classes modeling AVID strategies, and across campus and the community by being members of numerous clubs, sports, and honor societies, as well as completing hundreds of hours of community service. Ms. Amy Komitzky describes her class of AVID seniors as “smart, strong, and resilient. They have the power and the talent to go forth and make their mark on this earth. I have no doubt that this senior class of AVID 2020 will do extraordinary things to make this world a better place.” Excellent work, AVID Seniors!

There are a number of options available with prices ranging between $10 and $65. CUSD MESSAGE REGARDING REFUNDS
We understand your concerns regarding refunds and are working diligently to request a solution from the Arizona Department of Revenue. Since all field trip and AP exam fees are tax credit eligible and may have already been claimed on taxes, we are waiting on guidance from the Arizona Department of Revenue before proceeding. This is a complicated issue with many different factors to take into consideration. CUSD wants to ensure that we are in compliance State and Federal tax agencies and do not want to take any actions that may cause issues if a tax credit donation is refunded in the same taxable year as it is claimed as a credit. Once a decision has been reached, we will communicate with everyone impacted by cancelled field trips or AP exams due to the COVID-19 school closure. Thank you for your continued patience.
