My name is Susan MacLellan and it is my honour to be the new Principal of Judith Nyman Secondary School. I started at Judith Nyman at the beginning of February and I am committed to providing our students with inspiration, hope, guidance and pathways for students to be successful and productive citizens in society. Judith Nyman has a very dedicated and caring staff who work hard to engage students in the classroom and in extra- curricular activities helping students learn and develop life skills to prepare them for life beyond high school.

We have had a few changes to our staff for the second semester. We welcome back Mr. Callari our auto teacher, welcome to Ms. Sath who is teaching Math since Mr. Vincent's retirement . In addition welcome to our new Office Manager Diana Tenuta-Herron.

In addition great appreciation goes out to our School Council Members our Superintendent Hazel Mason and our new Trustee Carrie Andrews. Parents are encouraged to attend our school council meetings. Our meetings are on the third Tuesday of every month.

Student Services and Co-Operative Education

It has been a busy and successful few months in the Student Services department. All students met with their counselors to chose their courses for the next school year. Option selections were successfully completed by all students and submitted.

Parents and students are encouraged to drop by and visit guidance staff on Parent's Night form 6 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday April 26th. In addition there will also be a Grade 8 Information Night on this date at 6:30 pm to provide parents of new students with support for transitioning to high school.

In addition the guidance department provides a 5 week Healthy Relationship workshop, school tours for our Life skills students from February to May every Thursday form 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Rookie of the Year and Qualifiers for the World's Competition!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Robotics Team for winning Rookie Award at their first Robotics competition this past weekend. They have also secured a placement in the World's competition in St. Louis for April. Mr. Meleca, Mr. Gancasz, Mr. Coyle and Ms. Vander Wilp along with the student team have put in long hours to build their robots in preparation for their competition. We are so proud of the Judith Nyman team for such a well deserved award and opportunity to travel to the World competition!!!

Our Technical trades continue to flourish with several programs and student achievements such as the Auto shops building of a Street Rod, a Habitat for Humanity Sponsored build, a 1949 Chevy Pick up restoration belonging to Judith Nyman herself, a successful welding club during the lunch hour, and a Year Book award for best layout and design. In addition students are continually securing apprenticeships in cabinetmaking, auto mechanics, welding, auto body, and electrical trades.

We value healthy active living at Judith Nyman. Our teachers are dedicated to promoting wellness and character building through various sports and activities.

Our Judith Nyman Hornets boys basketball team qualified for the playoffs in the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletics Association ( ROPSSAA)this past season. Congratulations for qualifying and next year we go all the way to a win in the Finals!

Our students continue to participate in the vocational athletics league. Our coaches work hard to provide our students with the opportunity to be active and learn invaluable team work skills as they participate in volleyball, basketball,

In addition our teachers provide students the opportunity to stay active and healthy by offering a variety of sports, fitness classes and weight training during the school lunch hour.

Student involvement in sports programs is recognized and celebrated at our Awards Banquet taking place on May 28th this year during period 4 of our daily schedule.
