Kung Hei Fat Choi!
Wishing all Glenealy parents and students a Happy Year of the Snake.
Library Redevelopment Update
Plans for the new library redevelopment continue to take shape. We will soon have the layout finalised and begin to source furniture items to make it a comfortable environment. It's exciting to see things fall into place and take shape.
We are extremely thankful to all our Glenealy families and community for your continued support around fundraising for the new library.

Book Week
Glenealy will celebrate Book Week this year from April 15 - 19. We have lots of exciting events planned, such as book swaps, a reading photo contest, guess-the-teacher quizzes and book sales from various publishing companies.
The PTA have kindly offered to sponsor well-known author Sarah Brennan to spend a day with us during the week, which will be a wonderful experience for all classes.
We will also have a character dress-up day for staff and children, so start planning your child's costume now! Don't feel you need to spend a lot of money on a store-bought costume - simple, home-made costumes are best!

Library Open during Student-Led Conferences
The library will be open during student-led conferences, which will take place on the afternoon of February 28 and the whole day of March 1.
Please take this opportunity to visit the library with your child to see some ideas around our planned library redevelopment, share in a story, read some of the books that have recently been purchased and see some photos of students working and learning in the library.
Book Sale:
We will also have several tables set up with a selection of new books from one of our book vendors. You and your child are welcome to purchase a book for home if you wish. These books are at cost and the Library makes no profit on them.
Donate-A-Book:
Additionally, in an effort to help us enrich our school library collection, there will also be a table of preselected books which parents and children can donate to the library at a cost of $100 each. A dedication will be placed in the front of the book acknowledging the donor -- we would be very grateful for your generosity.
We look forward to seeing you in the library on your child's three-way conference day!

Scholastic Book Clubs
Next Monday, February 25, your child will bring home a Scholastic Book Club catalogue. The order deadline for books will be the following Monday, March 4. Orders received after this date cannot be processed. Books are shipped directly to us from the US and will be distributed once they arrive.
Instructions on how to order will be attached to the catalogues.
If you would like to order books for your child, please return your Scholastic order form and cheque directly to the library.

Reading Miles Passport Challenge
Congratulations to all our student readers!
Over the past few months Glenealy students in Years 3-6 have been keeping track of their reading with a Reading Miles Passport. For each 20 minutes of reading, students were able to collect one signature towards filling up their passport.
A completed passport equaled 22 hours of reading. Many students completed one or two passports and some even finished three! A fantastic reading effort.
At assembly recently, Ms. Best helped Mrs. Oliver draw names out of a box from the pool of children who had completed one or more passports.
The lucky-draw winners were -
Arman Buffonge from 4A
Edson Dos Santos from 6B
Young Jin Ahn from 3S
Tia Dadlani from 4B
Zachary Ho from 6M
Jolie Nelsen from 5U
Benjamin Jones from 6B
Congratulations to all the children who participated in this reading initiative, well done to all!

Parent Lending Section in Library
We have a selection of books in the library, many of which were purchased by the PTA and are available for parent-only borrowing. These cover a range of different topics.
Parents may borrow these books through their child's account. Please see the library staff for assistance.

Parent Volunteers in the library
To keep our library running efficiently for the children, we would appreciate any helping hands - from 10 minutes to an hour of your time.
There are shelves to tidy, books to re-shelve and books to cover. If you can spare any time at all, no matter how little, it would be much appreciated.
